Sorry I don't post, I do read every day, but as I do not have or am working towards a daydream I feel rather a fraud posting. I'm plugging away at the garden, which is not large compared to what everyone on here has, but it's big for me. Working full time and having a hubby with no interest in the garden means it all falls to me. Whilst I do love gardening some help would be very appreciated at times! Maybe I will post some pics so you know what I'm playing with...I know you all love photos :)
  • Don't worry Fay, our garden isn't very big either although we have managed to squeeze four chickens in and they have about a third of the garden ;) It's worth it for the eggs and for watching their funny ways. They were all haveing a 'team' dustbath yesterday afternoon and trilling with happiness in the sun. We are making very slow progress with the rest of the garden, I've got lots of plants in pots, just need to sort out where to put them :o

Do post some photo's of your garden so we can see what you are thinking of doing. A lot of the fun can be in the planning.

alfie that kittie is so cute has s/he bought you anything on ebay yet?
It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.

;) almost makes one think that our "davey boy" gets singled out for the "dressing up" parts for a reason...... me finks he looks almost TOO GOOD in a dress :rotfl::rotfl:

Oy! If you don't mind, was a bloke in the last production. :p.....OK, a bloke in a dress thing, but a bloke nonetheless! :D

Having been a serf, a Queen, and an Emperor, I've now been demoted to 'Dame type-person.' This is no doubt due to the incredibly insensitive wind turbine joke I added to the script last time. :o

I've not heard of 'Aladdin & the Wishing Tree.' Our next will be based loosely on 'A Christmas Carol'.....very loosely I expect!

Fay, we know people read this nonsense silently, and that's fine, but don't ever feel that you can't contribute. There are absolutely no qualifications needed on this thread, beyond being interested in gardens, the countryside, animogs and the places in which we live, whether that's in a physical sense or a social one. :)

Are you sure we are not the same person :rotfl: I have a suburban garden and a reluctant to garden hubby. I do have a dream but without a lottery win there will be no small holding for me so I am doing what I can with the space I have. However I still post here with monotonous regularity :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Please do post as often as you like as it is lovely to hear what others are doing in their garden and I find it particularly interesting hearing what others are doing in gardens similar to mine. IHS has created a stunning space in a suburban garden and I have been trying to make the back a flowering haven (getting there)and the side a veggie garden (failing miserably) so we can all share hints and tips.

Hello all, thought I'd pop in and say hello, haven't posted for ages but I love to read the thread most days.
Some may remember I told you we had an old rottie, Freddie. On Fathers Day this year hubby took him out for his usual morning walk on the fields behind our house, came back after the walk and sadly, Freddie just laid down in the garden and passed away. I can't describe how we felt, shocked, heartbroken and devastated would only touch it. We have had rotties for about 30 years and the house was just so empty without our old boy.
Well, its now September and we have a new baby to love. He's called Robbie and he's a black lab, absolutely full of mischief , but very affectionate. He was the last of the litter from working gun dog parents, but he's a pet for us, not a working dog.
My garden has took a bit of a back seat since he arrived, I had lots of cherry tomatoes in tubs, I could count on one hand the ripe ones I've picked, as pup thinks its a game to pick green tomatoes lol.
Love all the kitten and piggy photos, my neighbour has a new kitten and he and Robbie are best friends, although kitten is boss !
When I suss out how to put photos on, I'll post some of Robbie.
PS hope I'm not a bumhole lol !!
  • Very sorry to hear about Freddie jenie. We have rehohmed a couple of elderly black labs in the past and the old chaps find a very special place in your heart. A comfy bed, full tummy, walks with great sniffs, lots of love and a gentle passing....no more you can do :A

Would love to see some photos of Robbie. Just upload them to a file hosting site like photobucket and copy the link into the insert icon when you post.

no problem.... you get your piggies sorted.:( she is maybe grumpy if shes not feeling good not expressing milk ?? when mabel was happy she was gorgeous but when she was grumpy i gave her a wide berth ...... have you lost some piglins already ? :(
  • thanks Alfie I knew you would understand..

Vet has been, haven't seen this vet before, but what a fab guy, was here for over an hour...

There was/is 2 problems... which are common in pigs... one in theory shouldn't happen again, as now by having a litter would have produced anti-bodies to stop it happening again..

The other one.. lack of producing milk...she has a coarse of 4 injections, every 12 hours... the vet give her the first one, and couldn't get over how good she was...so we have to see if this works, if it doesn't then, there will be some sleepless nights.. We don't know if this is a one off, or if it would happen again

Don't get me wrong.. even though I said she was a Diva.. her temprement is still the same.. its just she just doesn't know what to do, or react, but today she is getting there... and is now interacting with the piglins.. one of the piglins has had anti- b's
