    DAVE........ CAT........ PIDGEONS.......;) :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
  • Good rescue on the piglet CTC! it happens so easily with new mums and old timers, you try and 'monitor' the amount of straw but the sow always puts it back how she wants it.

Dave I should have been clearer, the fee was £1000 for all our planned changes and the illegal ones that need retrospective permission. I forget the details but it's £330 per application, which only covers a certain square meterage so we needed that x 2 plus another application for change of use, which it turns out we don't need after all!

The polytunnel was a relatively small part of the area but we laid concrete in our yard and built lean to roofing in places so the square metres soon totted up.

Baba I have two words for you and then I'll say no more on the matter for fear of sending the thread way off topic...Chalk Paint! I use it all the time to revamp furniture, it's soooooooo easy to use, very forgiving, you can go back and redo bits you aren't happy with, I should know! The colours would tone with a natural material like granite, I can picture it now....yummy. Several chalk paint brands are available, and for bespoke colours I've even made my own from recipes on the internet, mucky but fun!

Whereabouts in London BTW? I grew up in Streatham ....the Hill though not the Common!

AS per Davensave just checking in.

Been to London with work for awards thingy and company got 2 awards out of 3. I won the raffle out of 700 people!!!! 50 quid M&S vouchers, already spent. Went to theatre with family ans saw The Curious INcident of the DOg in the Nighttime, bloody brilliant! Can't stop raving about it. Also went to the TOwer of London and saw the poopy art work. Very thoguht provoking.#

OH has had his injection in his back and things are getting easier for him. However my back has been sore since a week last Sunday so off to the chiropractors on Wednesday. Just letting OH recover and then we'll start on our garden project.

DS1 has bought a car in NZ. Think he has found work on a sheep farm, much more up his street. He's done a bungee jump and I did see a picture and it certainly looked like he needed to change his pants!!!!

DD2 has passed her theory test, nearly there.

DS2 has got 10 turkeys. Think they've picked too many boys.

Have I bored you enough yet....?

Oooh just remebered we are on the puppy hunt.

How is any of that boring? There are things in everyone's posts we relate to. ;)

Here, I remember DD2 going nearly mad because she kept failing the theory computer screen bit, when her actual driving was brilliant.....then DD1 jumped out of a plane....but I didn't look....and we can all relate to the turkeys! :rotfl:

Glad DS1 is settling-in and finding his feet (shears?) :)

Puppies? ......Did someone mention puppies?

Very still morning here, which is quite reassuring when you have an 8x5 metre tarpaulin between you and the outside world! :D It is drizzling though. :(

At 6am, it was still dark of course, but I could hear an owl, feeding time at the hounds' kennels a couple of miles away and the church clock, all at the same time. :)
  • morning all,

well I haven't got a flipping clue on the price of fish these days, but all I know is, they are disguising the proper names of fish, so people will not know what they are... we don't eat a lot of fish, and when we do its normally from the chippy lol, and that has gone tasteless..

I love our little group of friends on here, and love new people joining us, except if they are bumholes, we have had the odd one lol..

piddled down all day yesterday.. but back to blue skies today...

Luceille... your son sounds as though he is fitting in well in NZ and thoughly taking it all in.... no turkeys here, this year..

think its time to start making Cawl again (Lamb stew) food of the gods. love it...

Looking forward to the 'BBQ weekend'...

I'm on holiday today and Scotland has Monday as a bank holiday too (we didn't get the August holiday), so will use the 4 days to get all the outdoors work done before the weather finally turns.

I was poking about in the tin-drum of layered bulbs that I did last autumn and had parked out the way all summer. The crocus at the top were all starting to sprout and hadn't split into tiny bulbils, so I topped them up with more crocus bulbs and just left the lower daffs and tulips, hoping they will flower.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I think I'd like to keep it the original pine.

I'm from New Malden near Kingston and still live in between Sutton and Banstead. :)

I hope nobody thinks I'm a bumhole! :rotfl:

The kitchen guys are back again to finish off and it has been drizzling but the sun is out at the moment. Trying to work is a little difficult with an angle grinder going in the background though! I'll wait until everything is finished in the kitchen before posting photos.

Tomorrow I'll be stripping wallpaper in one of the new flats and then next week we'll be pulling out the old kitchen and bathroom........

Our garden is so dry at the moment, we haven't had any heavy rain for weeks.

My fuchsias have dropped a lot of their leaves and the hydrangeas are looking very sorry for themselves. Even the marigolds don't look very happy and they usually cope well with dry conditions. :( Still, it is nice to have a proper hot summer for a change. :)
