Yay for piglets
Hopefully once mum has had a moment to catch her breath she will calm down and become a fabulous mum.
Things are a constant juggling act here at the moment. Time seems to disappear and only the basics are being consistently done. I had cleared my diary today to work in the garden with Rumlet and of course it is raining :rotfl: so we are going Christmas present shopping instead!Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
Thank you all for the welcome, most appreciated.Seriously, what part of Devon, when you're here? You don't have to be specific, bottom, middle or top will do.
I'm in the middle, in the bit that no one knows about, thank goodness!Welcome Babafette, where are you on your daydreamer journey? So far we've changed the cupboard handles, changed all the switches and sockets and replaced the doors on the range cooker. The kitchen worktops and splashbacks will hopefully be completed tomorrow and then I'll have to start sanding down all the cupboards ready for staining.
well you have a cat...so i guess soI would like a cat and a dog but at the moment it isn't practical. I've dropped some hints about getting a couple of donkeys for the field on our road but so far they've fallen on deaf ears! :rotfl:
Time may be a great healer, but it's a lousy beautician....0 -
Well actually I don't, I just have the cat avatar because I love the picture.

Have you had donkeys before?
They are surprisingly high maintenance. They require a lot of grazing restriction in uk so stimulation in some way, and field maintenance, and they aren't water proof, so unlike horses you HAVE to provide shelter and muck out every day.
They are lovely though, and you are right, they must be kept in twos minimum ( but three is better)

Do you have donkeys yourself?Time may be a great healer, but it's a lousy beautician....0 -
No, I just have a couple of adopted ones at the local Donkey Sanctuary in Sidmouth. It really is just a pipe dream as the field doesn't belong to us anyway.
Do you have donkeys yourself?
Shame, they are sweet. No, I don't keep donkeys...its against my own rules.. I know a bit about them though
. And have experience of them.

Hi Babafette you're in my fave part of the world, I love the area, River Cottage country!
As a hater of sanding and general laborious prepping have you looked into painting over your cupboard doors? There's a few great paints I use which go straight on just about any surface and some are very Eco too. Or do you want the the wood look?
I did a day course of donkey introductories with that charity, but knew we were moving to wet Wales so none for me. It was a lovely experience nonetheless!
Having a chilled day, pottering rather than the usual non stop craziness, it's grey and mizzling out today in contrast to yesterday's bright warm sunshine0 -

What!!!!??? Our PP on the house + building regs together cost under £500. In fact, when we changed our application and decided not to increase the footprint, the council chap did a bit of working out and found a way to charge us less.
As I recall, based on its area, our polytunnel application cost us about £95. We had to provide all sorts of gumph, such as a design & access statement, show provision for parking and so on, but I did all those bits without much of a clue as to what I was doing:o..... and nobody grumbled.
Good to hear that the piglins are all there now and that Mum may yet take on her role with calmness & due diligence.
Looking like it might soon be damp & drizzling ....builder is here and about to make some concrete pads to take the new beam. The roof stays uncovered regardless, but we have shut down electrics on that side!0
