I'm struggling to free range guinea fowl at the moment. Man, they can fly high!

We were going to leave it till the end and paint all in one go, but we might paint the fence and two finished planters this week. I really want to plant in the finished planters.

Next thing I have to do is decide what to plant for fiddle heads.

RAS, that might be up your street, I know its not a British thing, but pretty sure that I can get ferns here that in the spring will be edible when cooked.

Have you partaken of fiddle head ferns ?

Not tried them lir, largely 'cos I am not certain on ID. Know they are in the foraging books and liked in Europe.

Good idea anyway and if you like them, even better?

Yes, useful, for the shadier beds too. ;).

I don't plan going mad with them, just a couple. Might get a couple of different varieties.

    A nother knew thing.

I have never, ever planted a fern. :)

There's only one place on our patch where ferns grow naturally, and that's the stream garden. We have four main species I'm aware of, including the Shuttlecock Fern, but the first of those were may have been introduced. I've added more, having arrived with some.

I've added one Hard Fern. If it survives, I'll add a few more, as it's a local plant. :)
