Will you be keeping any through the winter?

Do you think the prices reflect people's optimism, or is it impossible to know why the prices go up & down?

Glad you were happy with the prices you achieved.

We have 4 adults now... 2 boar and 2 sows..

and we have 3 boglins left... we kept the smallest ones back..

1 has potentially been booked to be sold as a whole carcuss,
1 has been booked for a hog roast up the biker clubhouse in October, but don't know if it will be too big.. so will see,

and we have 1 left, so will see what happens to that one..

The prices of the piglets were high, as people are buying them now ready for Christmas pork... don't get me wrong there were some tiny cute piglets that were going from £1.. but these are 'pet' ones...

Good to see you around again, phoebe.:)

Thanks Dave - it's good to be back and see you guys too :D

Have had a hectic year - my dad (who had Vascular Dementia since 2012) passed away in May, my mum (who has had Alzheimer's since around 2005) lost 22% of her body weight and was giving real cause for concern, but she has stabilised now thankfully, so we have been back and forth to Portsmouth umpteen times.

DS and the GF have been selling their London flat and buying in Brighton so we've been assisting with that and it was somewhat problematic as their FTBs who offered in April had all sorts of mortgage issues and completion only finally happened on both properties last week.

On top of that DH and I have been going like the proverbial clappers to get this place finished as we both decided it's way too quiet here for us and we need somewhere with a bit more action! House still not quite finished but it hit the market on Monday - we've got our eye on another house (not too much of a project this time ;)) so fingers crossed for a quick sale!

Anyhoo, will be dropping by occasionally as and when our hectic schedule allows, but in the meantime do hope all Daydreamers are ok and hugs to everyone :) x

    Over £40,000 mis-sold PPI reclaimed

  • Well just come back from the auction... 4 of the boglins have gone... there were loads and loads of piglets there...which were bring silly high money... loads of porkers there too, that went for silly money... our pigs didn't hit dizzy high prices, but we were pleased with what we had for them considering the amount of pigs there..

so watching the warm ups of the Italian grand prix... having a chill out for 5 mins.. and then doing some work..

I thought of you today, at the auction, half thought I might pop over but I don't need any pigs ATM and events overtook me. They're digging up the road in front of us, got chatting to one of the chaps and turns out he's a beef farmer in real life, he was going along today to get a sow and start breeding...I'll ask him Monday what he got!

We must catch up, it's been crazy lately! my crafty stuff is going well and in a slightly different direction, so I may need to visit you in your professional capacity for supplies.

It's been a bit of a drama but I've almost got my studio done, YAY! I'll be painting floors and walls this weekend, in between watching the F1, visiting a different type of auction and a long Skype chat with hubby. We went to Monza in 2008 to watch The race, that was our last holiday actually:eek: camping in the rain in a field next to the track with German music playing late into the night, It was a brilliant weekend!

Back to reality though and the work continues, it'll be major shifting of furniture next week and more importantly shelves full of crafty stash things - I'll also have my spare room and half the doing room back!

Today I had my first ever case of fly strike, it's late in the year for it but the weather's been perfect. I happened to have the sheep in the yard already but didn't spot anything yesterday, poor boy must have rubbed the fleece off the itchy bit overnight, leaving two bare sore looking patches on his back.

Luckily I had exactly the stuff I needed in the medicine chest and the nasty little !!!!!!s were dying in front of me as I sprayed it on! I've treated the others preventatively, no sign on them at all, but will still be watching like a hawk.

Other than that it's all good here, for now... The planners have missed their own deadline on our application but perhaps no news is good news?!

Glad to see everyone's projects are moving along too, when we look back at progress over the year we should all see some major changes have happened :)

Fk - I had my 1st case of fly strike a few weeks back & unfortunately lost the lamb. I hadn't spotted it until she was quite bad. It was horrid.

Phoebe - sorry about your parent's, it's a horrible disease. It does rob everyone of a loved one.

Lovely day here & just plodding on.

My Dad had the same, phoebe. Losing him in a physical sense was some years from the loss of his personality, though he had his better, more lucid days. I was sorry, but also relieved, because it was the end of a struggle that neither of us could win. :(

Misty morning forecast again. The eupatoriums have never looked so good. For those interested there's a nice feature in The Garden this month on our old friend and rival Derry Watkins whose exuberant planting style we certainly try to share:

Beautiful display Dave - just lovely.

I've been listing on the Bay & am now X Eyed. I have to go to work tomorow so I am off to bed as I am not feeling like cleaning a holiday house, but must grit my teeth.

Always wanted to grow Joe Pye Weed, but my gardens have always been really too small for such a giant perennial.

Well still busy at my end, DS1 is having a leaving party as he's off to New Zealand on Wednesday. Its all been a bit hectic.

Got an event on with work, which means I've got to go to London but will be able to stay the weekend with my sister and family.

Sister in law is visiting next Saturday.

Got a team building event in October and also need to take DD1 to Harper Adams for an open day.

So am still slobbing in bed yet!

Well, that skip is three quarters full now.

Its not going to take that long to fill it, its here for two weeks, I expect we'll have filled it today, even with taking two hours off for fir's hair cut and and a town wander.

It feels good to clear out LIR We have a home and sheds full of clutter that we need to get rid of and it feels like a mammoth undertaking  I need to get a heap of it done before my maternity leave finishes or I can see it never getting done :o

We also need to figure out a more effective way of storing/displaying the things that we do have. A trip to Ikea is long overdue to get bits and pieces for the children.
