Garlic is a good companion plant for roses, my guess is that any allium would do well. So spring onions? Chives? Garlic chives?

Good place for them too, not under my window!!

ahhh ! got it now... :T well mum didnt come out of hospital :o:( cardio chap doesnt want her in any way to make worse the fractured sternum. physio says she mustnt use her arms to do anything involving strain. ie . get up from a seated position without using her arms  as i pointed out she's 82 and couldnt do it before so what makes em think she can achieve that now ? thier answer is that until she can she stays put... her walking, stairs etc is fine. chicken and the egg again !! i said we could get a mechanical rising/tilting chair etc to help her at home [they reckon 6-8 weeks to mend] and arrange 24/7 vare but NOPE... they wont let her LEAVE them till she can .... so of course mum is frustrated as he**.. sister went back to IOW today, she had lovely meal cooked for mum last night .:( we were only told 4pm.. i can understand it but my feeling is she can practice/recover quicker at home as the nurses are so busy there she wont get many opportunities to practice ... but we have to go by what they say ... it has been soooo hot today ! 26dg and not a whisper of a breeze so exhausting... boss said to me today to take a week off next week but i said i would see... :D may take the following one once i know mums sorted. my work is my sanity at the mo !! she's always saying to have time off but i havent for .... 2 years ?? :rotfl::rotfl: id get paid :rotfl: right dinner beckons... getting later and later after "visiting" everyone :o

I know it's pretty early, but a week of autumn rain will turn my ground to a quagmire so started to plant the bulbs in the area I've cleared over the weekend. Also moved some of the self-sown carex, polemoniums and divided geraniums.

All these are destined for the west side of the border which is loosely the 'cool' border for colours.

Also planted two yew I collected as seedlings from my last garden and have had in pots but they were becoming like bonsai.

My guess is mr BUHA or Mr Prat. Hope it all goes to plan, though the best :p is the fact that you are free of them.

I have some plans for Mr Dog too, but they require investment in technology, which I'm reluctant to make....yet. Just knowing I have options makes him easier to bear. :)

Dead Maran in the chicken house this morning. :( I'm not surprised, as I noticed she was droopy yesterday.

Went south yesterday to pick up bed in Brixham for DD1. What a different Devon that is! Totnes totally gridlocked, especially going home, when the queues were stretching back t'other way about 3 miles. It's not even the main holiday season. They can keep it, high prices & all. :p

By contrast, tried to contact the local window company to say "Don't bother quoting, we've already chosen a supplier." Did this on their web site's contact page....big screed. The web page was broken, so it wouldn't send. Typical!

Maybe somewhere between Totnes and here, there's a bit of Devon that isn't too busy, yet isn't so laid back it's falling over. :rotfl:
