We put loads of new straw in the arc, to make sure that they try and stay clean... anyway the 2 piggies went straight to the fence to see 'paul' the boar, and they were sniffing each other..we put the rest of the straw in 'paul the pig's' shelter, and within minutes he had a mouth full of straw, an he was putting it along the fence between him and the piglets, and he was trying to push it though the fence for them:A:A:A I was sooooo nearly crying... I honestly didnt think a boar could be like that.
Our boars were mainly together with the sows & piglets apart from when the newborns were very small (they're about the size of a packet of cigarettes when born) . That was only because of the risk of rolling & squashing. It was quite touching & entertaining to see how careful they were in laying down particularly when you consider how badly designed all pot-bellies are. They can lower themselves gracefully only so far...... & then it's plonk! :rotfl:
As to the bed making, they're also a bit like men. It's surprising what housework they can/will do if there isn't a female to do it for them.
Glad the piglets are settling back in,
Sorry to hear about the hedge, Dave.0 -
Dave, thats a hedge that you planted that will now need the gaps replanted, costing you money and time. While not on a scale with CTCs experiences, it must still be upsetting.
I agree with your views on the dogs, the people are responsible for their pets, the very least they can do is to fully compensate CTC for loss.0 -
Just plodding along gently today. We had to whizz over to Bournemouth with the van yesterday to move DD2 and partner into their new place. Originally, others were scheduled to do this, but they were let down by a company they've used several times and the reserve back-up fell ill.....so it was old fogeys to the rescue!
When DD1 went to uni, she took a whole van load of stuff. Naively, we thought she'd still have roughly the same amount, but we figured without her wealthy Chinese friend returning to the mother country and leaving behind a garage full of furniture and other belongings + her partner's possessions lurking in a third location!
Luckily, they'd already moved some things and all the furniture had been disassembled & flat-packed, but even so we had three complete loads + one brought home, which included the major portion of a cherry tree! (We are not allowed to burn the tree as it is part of an on-going art project.)
While we were doing the moving, DD2 was painting her room, as she's keen to have her deposit back. After the recent hoo-ha with the letting agency, she thinks they'll be out to find fault. The agency changed its name following the bad publicity the girls brought them, and they're not happy that a council inspection, which also followed, required changes to the property's kitchen before it could be let again.0 -

Lidl car park stock is free, but one has to be patient!0 -
As this thread has been somewhat subdued today, I thought I'd post two pics.
The first is DD2's room as she left it yesterday:
The second is how it looked at the end of uni:

Davesnave.... typical... in fairness she did leave it nice, and spent the time painting etc...
some good-ish news, the stonemason is going to start the lime mortar pointing this week:T:T:T, so I really do need some more ebay sales as I haven't quite got enough money, BUT he did say it will take approx. 3 weeks, so should do it...
In fairness to him, he can see we have no budget:D, so he is making some great suggestions regarding the work, and what needs doing NOW, and what is just cosmetic, and can wait until later, ( cracked windowsill etc)..
After our incident with the rotten lintel on Friday, we strongly suggested concrete lintels, and leave a gap at the front so a think strip of oak can be placed infront of the lintel etc..
Even though we haven't really scratched the surface of work that needs doing, I really do feel as though we are getting somewhere.. ( only because we can see it:D)
got 4 baby courgettes not far off ready for picking, the pigs will prob have them:cool::rotfl:Work to live= not live to work0 -
