Shame about the roof, choille, but it's very close now.
CTC, I've been glad for the chard and other greens to keep the hens' diets complete during the heatwave. The chard is ages old and forever running to seed, but the birds don't seem to mind.
Lemonade salad wasn't too bad!0 -
Sounds as though you had one of those nights Davesnave.
Little piggies had a pineapple tonight and loved it, typical when we were getting loads of pineapples the 2 big girls didn't like them:mad::rotfl:
Was thinking about cut and come again crops, crops that just keep on giving like crougettes , runner beans etc..
Choille, so close now, I think as soon as the roof is one, we should have a party celebrate, as its another huge stage done...:T:T
young lad doing ebay finished today, so its down to me at the mo, with ebay... glad in a way, as I had an neg which is no good, especially as it wasn't me doing the listings:oWork to live= not live to work0 -
Lemonade dressing - it'll catch on.
Running out of gas is a calamity. We managed to get an extra cylinder so we have not got that hassle - it is a palaver getting one here sometimes. We try & keep ahead & roughly know how long they last.
CTC - it's good seeing the shapes emerge - very complex roof.
I did cut & come again cabbage which fed the hens in the main rather than us last year.
The ebay listing, photographing, keeping up with it takes ages & then it's not been that great of late - for me in any case. It's way down compared to last year. I keep having a snoop at other sites & wonder if it would be worth giving a bash on them.
Just been ironing sheets for the holiday house I do - in this heat - I must be mental.0 -

As an aside, it's worth people knowing that cylinder gas is produced by just a few large companies, but goes under many names. We have two spare cylinders, both virtually new, but can I exchange them for the brand(s) sold in the village????
I have been to 3 [STRIKE]dumps[/STRIKE] recycling facilities now and they won't exchange one of theirs for two of mine. It's the old "elf & safety" which is quoted as the reason.
Perhaps I could offer mine for one of the right brand on Freegle.0 -
choille, depending on what you sell, the other auctions sites trying to compete with ebay are a no go, especially the one you pay a life time fee up front, think its called ebid.
I have some books on Amazon, that is slow too, but then again loads of people have kindles now.
I know its allways quiet this time of the year, so hopefully come September things will really pick back up.
Been keeping the Christmas jumpers, so I have a few of them ready to list in the first week of December, also looking out for things people might buy as gifts, hats, scarves, gloves etc, Tablecloths go well around Christmas time too.Work to live= not live to work0 -
Choille, I think the Bay is rather quiet atm, but it's summer and holidays and I'm not sure whether there is as much money around as there used to be. We've listed and sold less than normal. We don't offer international shipping on low value items, but we're still selling some high value stuff with Australia, US, Germany and Taiwan featuring regularly.
Like CTC, we've got a collection of Crimbo related stuff (ceramics) which will be listed in November
CTC, try chard/leaf beet as a crop for the pigs.
Got DD2 and family joining us for a day or two, need to batten down the hatches with the two young GSs. Picked a Little Tikes Cozy Coupe out of a skip yesterday (with permission). Thats fun for the youngest while he's here, then its onto Ebay, where it should fetch £20-25. Amazing what people will chuck away!

Dave that's a nuisance. You could have a gas bottle swop & meet day! I think we ended up with some being given back to the carrier for free- I can't remember now. You used to have to pay a deposit for them, but that was a while back. I've seen stoves made out of them.
I seem to have been selling scarves of late which is weird, people getting bargains I suppose.
I wondered about Etsy site - amyone have any thoughts.
Rhiwfield you seem to be getting on really well with your auctioning & selling which is wonderful.0 -
Hi everyone
Long day at the hospital yesterday but surgery went well. An eccentric and very likable surgeon who played Michael Buble while he operated. He entertained us all with stories of how 'Delicious Debbie from Doncaster', the page 3 girl' would have had her implants done. The whole team was great, introducing themselves and telling me what they were doing.
And he did it under a local despite the other surgeons in his team telling me it couldn't be done. Totally exhausted afterwards and they wanted to keep me in over night, as I wasn't bouncing back (like the 77 year old lady in the bed next to me who had had a GA), but I just wanted to go home where I could rest properly. Rather sore and tired so taking in extra rest over the next few days.
The hospital seems to be working at maximum capacity so goodness knows what it will be like come winter. I arrived as per my letter at 7am, only to be told the ward was full and was sent on to another ward. No room at the inn there either and they said they weren't expecting me until 10am. Hospital is full I was told. Well, no way I could sit and wait for hours so I told the nurse I would have to go home. Let me see what I can do she said. They had a juggle around and lo and behold there was a bed for me after all. Just as well as my normally calm DH was on the verge of having a meltdown. I had repeatedly told the clinic staff prior to the surgery that I couldn't sit and wait for long periods yet it just isn't taken seriously. Luckly the nurse I saw yesterday has a family member who has ME and therefore knows how quickly PWME become exhausted.
Now trying to get an appointment at my local GP practice for the nurse to do a wound check next week, as advised by the hospital - but guess what - they are booked up too!It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.

Chilled, I have a friend with an etsy shop just opened. I'll write and ask this weekend how its going. Big prices there, certainly. Make me swoon. I've been disappointed with etsy purchases sadly.0

Ring the hospital and tell them what the practice has said and see how high they jump when the hospital contact them.
OR write and complain to the practice manager. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0
