Wow you've all been a busy lot!
Sorry about your boy choille, but as everyone has said he had a good innings and slipped away gently.
Maybe I surround myself with so many animals so that when one does go I always have others for comfort and to keep me going.
Dave, the mower story continues! Sounds like you've found a good'un there.
Stuff going on here too, fencing man has pretty much finished....it's not all done but he probably won't be back! He's off to cut hay and silage for his animals, and probably everyone else's round here, fair do's innit?!
He did the most important stuff ie our land, but he hasn't finished in the rented field. However that might turn out to be fortuitous as it seems the neighbour we rent from is changing his mind... having said to do whatever is necessary today he's suddenly decided he's not happy with what has been done, which is fencing in front of have ditch we dug last spring and round the new pond.
it's basically there to stop animals falling in and dying. He accused me of trying to steal his land because the new fence is about 10' in from the original fallen-to-bits boundary fence...I obviously am not, I tried to explain the boundary doesn't change because a bit of stock fence goes in..
I think he's now trying to get out of paying for it, we agreed to go 50-50 on all the fencing in his field because even though we only rent the field it would benefit us while we rent it and even if we didn't rent it, it keeps our stock out of their field.
Now I don't trust the ****** as far as I could throw him! he keeps going behind my back, calling the planning office, then my planning consultant. he even collared my OH this afternoon and asked him to call up for a chat because I wouldnt listen! He is a total dinosaur, a sexist racist bigot who I can barely tolerate speaking to at the best of times...he actually called my black alpacas the N word...in this day and age! He hasn't got a clue about countryside stuff and just won't be told, esp not by a woman!
Their house is still for sale, price keeps dropping, and I cannot wait for him to go!
Anyway...on a brighter note, while OH is home we are slowly attacking the garden, between rain showers! Got the next raised bed built, and slowly topping up all the others from a huge pile of composted bark. We will hopefully start to shift the monster pile of topsoil after that, it is blocking the way out via our back door, like Everest, but the dogs love sitting on top!
It's raining outside so think I'll stay in and watch a bit of Pointless before animals need my attention !0 -
Hi All
Appointment through for the consultant but could really do with the one for the MRI.
Was down in London at the weekend and OH had a bit of a funny turn on the tube. He seems ok now except in constant pain.

Hello
I was drenched numerous times today :rotfl:
Lucielle, how frustrating that the MRI hasn't come through, would it be worth a phone call to maybe get a cancellation?
Maggie Just as well you had all those warm things to wear and somewhere to sit!
Alfie The signs look great
I have a DIY question that I will ask here before braving another boardOur bathroom tiles are dark grey slate and the filler/grout/adhesive??? that was used is a light grey. There is some of the filler on the tiles how do I remove it without damaging the tiles?

Lucielle, I had a beggar of a time trying to get an MRI a couple of years ago at about this time of year. Everyone was on holiday making imagery and neurology very over stretched. Was a big problem.
A neurologist might be able to move up the list if feels its urgent, but will been two consultations, faff of course.
Hope everything goes smoothly.0 -

what quail have you got??
TBH there isn't much diff in size between the Jumbo's and the Japanese quail..
I have three Italian (1 male and 2 females), four Japanese (one male, three females) and one Range. She's my favourite, she was the last to hatch by about 6 hours so got nicknamed Lucky Last for a while until she matured - now she's called Cricket because she was the first to make that noise :T
Love the girls, they're really cute. And one lays a lilac coloured egg :j
I thought jumbos were supposed to be about twice the size of the standard Japanese?
I doubt I'll reach 50 just yet, can't fit any more in until we sort out some more pen space for them so that might be a project for next year (pennies permitting). How many are you up to? :rotfl:
Alfie - they are in two rabbit hutches. The boys are in one which is 5 feet by 2 feet, although one of them is in a hamster cage inside that to keep him from attacking the other. The girls are in a 2 storey hutch which is about 4 feet by 18 inches or so each floor. I "herd" them upstairs at night for safety's sake. They have seed trays of sawdust downstairs for bathing in and love it, and they all get mealworms and green stuffs for treats."...And if it don't feel good, what are you doing it for?" - Robbie Williams - 'Candy'0 -
Thanks for all good wishes.
Northern Lights here this evening - only realised when I went out to the shed to get some supper stuff in. Very wet & windy day, but spent it listing stuff on the bay & looking for a dish I sold on Friday - I can't find it......Gee how ridiculous is that, but am living in complete chaos.
Lucielle hope OH get's his scan very soon. It's a worry for you.
Forgot every one's news - this cold still lingers.
Off to bed before I look for dish where I've already looked three times before ..at least.0 -
morning all, done a lovely long post, and my computer decided to go awol lol basically the post was all about how now I am going on a mega money diet, I have spent most of the money I had saved on getting the basic set up stuff for my 'potential' new business from the ranch... Home today, trying to crack on with more sorting/clearing of our house as if my original plan had gone to plan, we would more or less be living in part of the ranch more or less around now ( birthday in 3 days time) Just put more eggs in the other small incubator, but hubby forgot to count how many eggs he put in lol... so that will be fun and games trying to count them lolWork to live= not live to work0

lucielle, hope your DH gets the MRI soon, what a worry for you.
choille, we were up in the Highlands last week & I was thinking about you. So sorry to hear about your puss
DH is home on (unpaid) hols for the next few weeks & we are going to have to have some serious long-term discussions about our future plans for moving to Scotland. I don't think it's working out that he's up there without me as I'm feeling resentful & a bit jealous if I'm honest
I've been harvesting home-grown raspberries for the last few days :j The birds have helped themselves to a few as I didn't get around to netting them. I haven't done anything with them really, so I'm grateful that we're getting any!! :rotfl:'A watched potato will never chit'...0 -
I have a Rumlet free day thanks to my parents and I have been working flat out all day to get various jobs done. Just grabbing 5 mins to catch my breath and then I will be back cleaning and tidying again.
However I do have plans for a cheeky hour in the garden with a good book and no distractions
CTC We also need to knuckle down and get our finances sorted, money seems to vanish and I know we could have a better life if we got our act together!Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0
