    Oh dear alfie
Just popped over to the techie forum and I see what you mean. I can't really see what the problem was, but some people are very 'black and white' - which can be useful when problem solving techie things, but doesn't go very far with real people ;)

So have you got any further with your misbehaving lappy? It's amazing how much time you can waste trying to sort out what appears to be a simple thing when it comes to computers.

En-suite (need to sort out some storage but you get the idea - thinking of a wicker chair for the corner - but all ideas welcome)

I would show you our eventual en suite, but there's a cement mixer in it ATM. :D

We've just brought the last of the 650 roof tiles back, but we don't fancy unloading them tonight! My arms and back have taken some punishment. To her great credit, DW hasn't complained, but I don't think this was quite the sort of exercise her physio recommended last Monday! :(

The people doing the complete re-furb have offered us the timber from their old roof. I thought "Nah," but on the way home I suddenly wondered if it would do for stud work.....We'll be having plenty of that......

My man-cave now has a roof structure, so we'll be watertight by Friday. :DI heard the builders at the other place discussing their roof, and it doesn't look like they'll be anywhere near weatherproof by the weekend.

evening all :hello: what a gorgeous day... sun beaming :D i had my [cover your ears lads] boob scan this morning , had a laugh with the nurse trying to out do each other with "having the least" ;) :rotfl:. im making the signs for "parking" for the wedding and got workman to cut me 10 arrows from weatherboard, then got painter to paint em...farra and bawl dont ya know :D then resident chippy showed me his nigh on perfection sign hed done saying "wedding" for down on the road :(.... BUT friends potential DIL didnt like his ["too formal"] but loved my shabby chic ones, each with a bright colored flower painted on the arrow head...:rotfl: ive just written in calligraphy ,for friend, a poem that will be read at reception... and she also asked would i invite my mum to the wedding :D mums chuffed to nuts :D:D as she said, better than all the bluddy funerals she's been to !!:rotfl: was sat in the garden T time and a mummy pheasant strolled across with 12 likkle babies :) shes always been here 7pm regular for food so must have been sitting close by. didnt bat an eyelid at the dogs .... i managed to plant more plants, slowly getting them in. sooooo dry tho :( i have to get/find 10 full hanging baskets to go along the stables [sorry wedding again :o] ,i will ask a lovely lady at the car boot cos her and her husband love thier plants and are very cheap. rather give them the business than a big garden centre charging silly money !! i will get pics of garden/marquet etc as it will be spectacular. based very much on a countryside edwardian rustic picnic style reception. sorry im going on but its so lovely when the garden is the theme .

We have a couple of blue hydrangeas.:) Not much to write home about for many people, but for us, used gardening on alkaline soil before, it's a novelty.

Weather looks set to change tomorrow, then into a westerly, more changeable airflow for next week. Suits us, as building stops for a while on Friday.

We got our new plans yesterday. Architect didn't consult further, got some minor bits wrong, didn't email anything for checking, but I don't care now, so long as we can convince the council that they are OK as a substitute for what went before. Common sense tells me they should be, but......

I've had a spot of bother with the planning consultant we used for our application, he's charging a fortune, his plans are full of mistakes and of a very poor quality, his drawings look like a kid has done them...I'm going to pay him something but if there's any hitch because of his errors I will be withholding some.

I did ask if I could do some of the work to save money, I'm more than capable and I explained we have nothing in the budget for this, but he didn't offer any suggestions...now I've asked for a breakdown of the bill, because it's about 30% more than he told me it would be and I can't see how he spent as long preparing the plans etc as he says. so I'm going to have a go a drawing some myself, then if his aren't good enough at least I've done some ready and I can argue the toss.

I'm also a bit relieved by the change in weather, I'm going to have a chance to get caught up, ish, especially on the indoor jobs that have been neglected! plus I've no 'builders' on site to watch over constantly...

That said got a man with a digger coming for a few days and I'll be dumpering so not much time off, plus fencing man should be back any day...no rest for the wicked eh?!

Right, onwards and upwards, got some timber to paint for the pergola, I'm doing it undercover and before it's built or else it would never happen!

FK, I sympathise. We only used this guy because he was recommended by a builder whose work we liked. Now that builder is tied-up till next year.....:(

We have an architect in the family now. DD2's partner was awarded his degree a few days ago, but that's only the first stage. He has a job lined -up to gain a year's experience, then it will be back to college for another couple of years, quite probably in the same city we came from. DD2 has mixed feelings about that! :rotfl:

Our builder friend, who's on the roof as I type, is very careful and thorough. He's done a grand job on the garage and outside room thus far. I'm worried that the next phase will be too much for him, but at the same time, I know we won't get anyone better when it comes to craftsmanship. ;)

CTC, when we get a lull here, we'll be taking Marvin, our cockerel, and the two Marans hens to Hatherleigh market to sell them as a trio. The hens are too skittish for our liking, having been raised by Dolly, our stupidest hen. She went into a panic when being a Mum and taught them to be fearful. They have never really integrated, even with the other birds.

So, I won't be shedding any tears then!:rotfl:
