Does anyone have any advice on radiators? We need about 9 new rads and 2 towels rails. Our quote allows for standard rads and we'd possibly like something different, but the prices are scary! We can't have cast iron. Other than that, the "only" constraint is price.

We did the no radiator thing, Thermaskirt. I love it, frees up more room space in our not so big rooms. Terse as on tablet. :o Sorry! :)

We looked at thermaskirt earlier on i the build. We are too locked into rads now to change that plan, but they looked like a good option. I have to say, I'm not a fan of rads - a necessary evil in our case. We have underfloor heating in the extension, but it wouldn't work anywhere else - COST!

You could ask on the "In my Home" board. Quite a few heating bods visit there. :)

No good asking me, as I'll probably go for standard stuff.:o Like you, the underfloor option isn't viable here.

Hows about cheap rads & covers - those fretted out ones that you can paint out. B&Q sell it by the sheet.
I don't like rads either but sometimes they are the best option. The cast iron ones are ridiculously expensive, but Ilove them, but wouldn't buy them at the price.

So miserable here & swarms of the biting things - off shopping!

Gosh, we start building on Monday!
My hope is that we can get the garage/utility end re-roofed, then move on to the kitchen, pull the flat bit off that, whip the RSJ out, stick another in, build a gable and re-roof that, all before autumn.

That way we can carry on using the crazy heating system for another winter and maybe even do a bit of internal stuff then as well. :D

Sounds like you're going to be busy, Dave :D Actually, that should be extra busy as you always seem to be doing stuff.

My local @ldi has radiator covers half price at £9.99 for a small/medium size. I was tempted to get one but I know it would never get fitted :o I do quite like the look of them but they're supposed to be fiddly to clean.
