I can't believe how much you're getting done, Rum.

Choille, if you want Ixworths, I can probably put you in touch with people near you. They are like hens' teeth! A rare, rare breed. But there are quite a few real enthusiasts out there keen to help anyone supporting the breed.

    hi all...

fab houses. doesnt taste in decor vary ;):D
And this is why I'm interested in other people's opinions, bt not offended if they hate what I've done :) Our electrician was most unimpressed by us not painting the ceilings white. It totally baffled him.

    Nothing wrong with that....

Unlike in the house DD2 and her hubby bought, where one room had black with multicoloured sub-William-Morris type flowered wall paper... On every wall. And then the ceiling was covered in same!  But to add insult to injury the curtains also matched!!!   I wonder if I can find a pic to show you - might have it on RightMove still.

It is amazing how constrained it's possible to be when decorating if you follow the traditional "rules". Does anyone know why ceilings are often painted white? I suspect it's to make them appear higher. In our place we are fortunate to have high ceilings already and white can look so stark against a walls' colour. In the extension (loads of light, double height and apexed ceiling) we've painted the ceilings the same colour as the walls. It looks a completely different colour from the pale blue walls (a very pale blue). In the lounge, we've painted the ceiling a slightly lighter colour than the walls, because it's west facing, so doesn't get light until the end of the day and the ceiling would have looked much darker loads of the time. We've tried to let "form follow function" (and OH dislikes cutting in unnecessarily).

The West/North-West-facing porch, we painted all one colour, a primrose yellow. It has an apexed roof and it's the one area that doesn't work for me. It's quite tall and narrow and the apex effect makes me feel like I'm in a tin of custard! I'm still musing what to do about this. Maybe once we have some white skirtings and things on the walls to break up the yellow, it will work better. The alternative is to paint some walls a lighter colour, cream perhaps? What other colour might you pair with yellow? I was wondering about what tiles to put on the floor....

Gooses! Gooses is what you need. They never stop, rain or shine (shitt1ng either, though :o)
Yes, one day, for the orchard. :)

Right now we need to focus, so no animals, except hens and kittens of course! :rotfl:

Rummer, I'm impressed.:T My gardening is going to the dogs, but we've done lots of prep. Totally clear garage, almost clear utility and even a coal bin moved. :A

I also got in an hour of strimming this morning, so almost staying on top of that ever-growing grass.

Somehow, the van is almost full again for another tip run too...:o

'Busy' flat, maggie  , but at least it looks clean and the views are probably what it was all about.

:rotfl: I never got to see it "in the flesh", prob just as well as suffer from vertigo anyway - prob would have had me lying on the floor and frothing at the mouth! ;):o

Not been back there since last November, when I wasn't too well and had to leave early (though it was just as well as the road got closed and DD1 got a bit stuck there!). But new windows, walls down, new fire, garage half removed - to make storage where it was and ground floor bedroom extended into it I think for Playroom for the GTs... Hopefully will get to see it when next go over to visit MiL in Nursing Home. Can't remember last time I did that either. :o But being driven anywhere is hard for me - does my back in even worse than digging weeds (sitting down) at the lottie.

my friend with all the houses NEVER uses white..
she uses F&B's off whites [more grey white] she does the ceilings in creamy always. she says pure white is a manufactured color therefore cannot compliment any "natural" color.
in your tin of custard, why not do a nice buttermilk paintwork, will poss tone down and blend the yellows. greenery like ferns looks nice against mellow yellows.

in one house she had 4 shades of grey in one room because window light changed each wall ... painters loved doing that one...
im having my outside doors etc painted soon. ive got to choose a color .... [what a difference a house move makes !!:D ] i fancy a nice frenchy bluey greeney... but not sure if this model of house would suit !!

i had 9 out of 10 hoss's feet trimmed today. one of friends gardeners helped me to catch LORI [the brat!;)] he basically rugby tackled a 30" ball of fire ...:rotfl:
poor farrier could hardly stand, his back was aching after having to crouch down to do the midgets...

right ive got more painting to do :o
