:rotfl::rotfl: i have this picture in my mind of you, camera in hand, "springing" doors and flashing away
Yes, I could get arrested, doing that!
Doesn't always work. Firing my camera into a high up grille I was too short to see through, produced a wonderful picture......of a grille!0 -
morning all,
Alfie.... exciting... but just to let you know, that is the first time in umpteen years I have seen anything like those kettles in the auction......not for your friend to be disappointed if she thinks there is going to be anything like that in them every month..
I got to go into work today and tomorrow... you would swear I have to go to the dentist or something, don't want to go lol...Work to live= not live to work0 -
Hrumph! Rained a lot overnight.....again, so that's mowing cancelled till this afternoon. I can barely keep up with it.
On the positive side, this has been a great year for those of us who planted trees, with little or no watering while they settle-in.:)
Up on the hedge bank, where Mr Dog pulled out my beech saplings, the hornbeams I replaced them with have stayed unnoticed. I have since added a couple of elderberries too, because they get going fast.Long -term, we need more of those for drinks etc, or just to feed the birds. I managed to root one of the golden variety recently - another of my car park finds
- but I don't think it would be appropriate to a wild hedge. Depends... some of them tone down as the season progresses.
Loads of cherries this year, which we probably won't get before the birds, but there are plenty of plums there for us.0 -

Things have ground to a halt with that project for the time being, just can't get motivated. Had to laugh (or groan) at the F&B website saying it's best not to use grey in a North facing room... no choice, unfortunately. I do love the idea of using a vibrant colour in there though.
choille & alfie, do you read the 'Shabby Chic' thread on one of the forums on here?? I dip in occasionally to look at the photos. I thought about it when you (choille) said about your kitchen cupboards, they could probably advise on what paint/sealer type stuff to use.
Dave, what would a Devonian say if I just asked for cream on my scone?? I really hate jam, horrible sticky stuff that it is :rotfl:
I did look & post on that forum Poppy & they said use a matt varnish, but I was in B&Q & they had little pots of sealant specially for matt paint jobs so that's what I'll use. B&Q sems to have really updated their paint section, I was amazed. I'll choose my paint here & then order it locally ish through a private shop that is really good on price to give them a turn as I don't really like all these mega stores - handy to look around where everything is in the one place though.0 -
Rozee - I would rehome the cockerels & give the layddee some peace. The eggs will survive as long as they don't go cold - it's quite amazing really - they need the warmth to keep them....ticking.
I do like the sound of IXworths. I may get some. I do miss not having any hens at all - it seems weirdly quiet out there.0 -
Just in from some sneaky gardening
Rumlet went for a nap so the baby monitor and I took a toddle to survey the land and to get some veg planted.
After some deliberation I planted some:- Kale
- Chard
- Beetroot
- Radishes
- Spring onion
- A courgette
- Speedy beans
Going to have a think about what else to plant in the gaps I have, possibly some peas/beans if it is not too late?Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
Rummer - you put me to shame. You've done amazing.
It's pouring down & low cloud & midgied ...again.0
