Do they sell kittens at an auction? That's a bit much, no? I'd be off with them as ole cat is really failing now. He's still happy but started using under the bed as a latrine dispite a tray in the loo. He was allus uber clean. Thankfully it's laminate on the floor! Still nothing beats a wake up call than squeezing under a bed to clean up cat shoite at 3am.0

choille, to get around the sellers not having a pet shop license, they have to become a member.. ( basically you buy your seller/buyer number for £1) the number you are allocated is your membership number.. then you are just selling to other members, not the general public..
the family that bid/bought the 2 kittens looked tidy, otherwise I would have bi on them. it would have been world war 3 In our house because of it lol..
I have been going to farm auctions years before having the ranch, and yes I used to buckle under and buy the cheap chicks etc to 'save' them, I have now hardened up to it all, but the odd thing does pull at my heart strings...Work to live= not live to work0 -
Some sale items at my B&Q, but may be local. 6 packs of strawberries down to £2, also £2 for packs of bedding gazanias.
In between the downpours, I've been trying to make a netting cage to go over the fruit-bushes, lot of money in the swear-box...I am going to get the veg planted in the flower border
Who wouldn't want a potager?0 -
rain just stopped play.... was cutting down/back the trees/hedge on the bottom garden footpath... we have gained quite a few feet in the garden, plus hopefully the garden will dry out, and the actual hedge/trees will thicken out at the bottom, been thinking about doing it since we bought the place, but Alfie... give us the push we needed lol..Work to live= not live to work0

hi all
well you all seem uber busy in your gardens..:)
i went to worm/deflea my old ladies mad cat this morning ! its lovely but is extremely intolerant of any form of restriction
so whilst lulling it into a false sense of security [stroking under chin] i wacked on the two liquid tubes and shifted my butt...fast :rotfl:
it has been solid sunshine, hit 24 , all day... not a drop of the wet stuff :j
called to see a friend for 15 mins [2hrs later:D....]
then came home to paint furniture.. but decided on a cupboard and ONE chair... got sidetracked
tomorow i have visitor AM, airport run, then paint paint paint...
CTC... friend LOVED the blankets.. i mean really loved em. told me to say big thankyou to you.
LIR... local garden centre has quoted for 2 big pots suitable for friends olive tree [not arrived yet] i nearly fell backwards when they quoted £500 for two
i looked at friend in utter disbelief and she just fell about laughing and said " over to you del boy"....:rotfl:0 -
I went to visit a local garden today.......The property is up for sale, (just over £1.5million, but you could try an offer!
) so the owners decided to open one last time to raise funds for the nearby church.

As Savills' pictures are so good, I don't need to use mine. The roses were superb, without a trace of black spot or mildew.
It was a really interesting garden, full of clever ideas and planting, but without being OTT. They even managed duck ponds without muck.
We came away with a couple of Peter Smith original alstromerias and a Geranium phaeum album, which the owner was keeping for himself, but generously gave up for the princely sum of £2! :jOur friend, a lady after my own heart, then found a few more alstromeria roots in the compost heap whilst walking back to the car.....:rotfl:
The only dodgy part was the cream tea, when we were asked if we wanted cream first then jam, or jam and then cream on the scones....
"What!!!" the other lady with us exclaimed, "Do you think we're Cornish!"
She's Deb'n born and bred, and as every Devonian knows, it's cream first, then jam. There is no other way!0 -
morning all,
WOW.. that is a fab place Davesnave.. very grand.
still up the ranch at mo, so will be toddling off home soon.
weather has been totally pants... really cant keep on top of the land and garden...need a good few days without any rain, so we can strim the grass/weed properly and light the huge bomfire we got. to make room for another one lol...
Alfie.. glad she is pleased with the blankets, what did she think of the kettle??Work to live= not live to work0 -
Wow! It's amazing what you can get in Devon compared to what you can get in Kent? http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-45932912.html Did anyone else see this in the Sunday Times Home Section? I love the kitchen, though.... (Picture 2) I'm wondering how I can recreate something similar in our place without it looking like I'm trying to make a 1960s bungalow look 18th Century
I'm not wanting the beams, but I love the industrial/very functional look. I have a freezer just like that one and a stainless steel range, so I'm halfway there-ish....
I finally buckled and got some wild turkey eggs to put under the broody hen but she is refusing to sit where I want her. The place she is brooding is totally unsuitable because it's in the Brahma ccokerels house and they chase her off every morning because they want to mate with her.... How long can a hen be off a nest before the eggs die?0 -
OMG Rozee.. I love that place, well the old barn anyway lol...
it looked very 'staged' to me... and the barn very 'picturesque' if that was my barn it would be filled to the rafters with crap..lol..
can you just re-house the cockerel??Work to live= not live to work0 -

Mid Devon isn't terribly accessible for those who need to be regularly in the Metropolis. People come here to hide!
Brushford Barton is more 'recently' notable as a place where the band The Cure used to get away from it all....back in the 80s.
The one you linked to is OK, but the proximity to the A299 could never be overcome. That's what you pay for accessibility.0
