Today, I've been mostly in the polytunnel, but even in there the wind is scary. Torrential rain is punctuated by sudden sunny intervals, but they don't last.

I'm off to try more brushcutting, as it's a lost cause with the mower.
I have courgettes! :j (but only thin ones so far.)0 -
high all,
no give in the up with this blustery weather, trees down locally, with one landing on a car...
I think would have made Alfie proud.. a friend of ours parents are moving, and selling loads of stuff, so I went to their house today,, and we went through their garage... found loads of things that would look fab up at the ranch.. so as the parents are away for a few weeks ( went up the house with our friend, the son) so when they get back or when he phones his parents, will find out how much they want for my huge stash.. also includes a lovely wooden drinks barrel, would make a fab sithde table for hubby to put his beer on lol.. think hubby took a pic of that and some other bitsWork to live= not live to work0 -
Was going to suggest to Alfie we saw what weather was like tomorrow, but she called me to cancel first.

DH and I are spending the evening making lists of herbs and decisions over what to fill our developing garden with.
Despite not being a gin drinker I am convinced I need juniper.0 -

My cat is snoring :rotfl:
CTC Looks like quite a haul
LIR It is great to hear that you are making planting decisions for your garden. All that work is finally coming to fruition (if only in one area
)
Well I had a house day today and just spent it snuggling with Rumlet which was lovely. Tomorrow however regardless of the weather I am heading to the garden/greenhouse/shed to do something garden related. I REALLY need to get the seedlings sorted as quite a few have died
and I need to save the rest and plant replacements.
I may also be going horse riding soon!Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
Pah!:( There was no chance to do any brushcutting, or much else outside this afternoon, so it was Carry On in the Polytunnel again.....Ooh, Matron! :rotfl:0

We've been making serious efforts this week to get back on track with our refurb plans. The 'perfect' plan we completed over a year ago is just too expensive.We have to lop at least £25k off.... somehow.

So, we've reinstated DW's alternative plan for the bedroom end of the house. This keeps an existing en-suite and loses another that's only on paper, but we get a larger bathroom. That's not much of a compromise, and £15k saved, based on £1200 per m2
Then we looked at t'other end. There, we'd always planned to extend at the back, but that still left an expensive purely cosmetic fix at the front. As tracing paper's cheap, we looked at combining those cosmetics with a small extension forward, and to our surprise, the interior worked better than our previous efforts.Why didn't we, or the architect, think of that before? (We have a sticky-out attached garage, so no need to go forward of the building line.
)
Now, we have two designs, simpler than our architect-aided effort, but both ticking all the boxes. One is just a bit larger, creating a full dining room, rather than an eat-in kitchen. Either way, we can live with them, so I think we've cracked it at last. :j
EDIT: Just seen the pictures CTC. Nice collection! Was the first box thing for pot pourri I wonder? [STRIKE]Perhaps the sort where perfume was sprinkled on, hence the metal box?[/STRIKE] I've changed my mind. The lid has metal on it too, so you are probably right that there was something hot in there!0 -
Woohoo Dave what great news! Sounds as if you are really getting places
I always think it is best to live somewhere for a while before making changes, nothing worse than rushing a job and making an expensive mistake. Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0
