Back at the start of the year I bought 6 bare root canes from Aldi and just stuck them in 30cm pots, three per pot, 'for now'. Of course, with the other work on the garden they have remained in the pots and are in full leave and budding.
What would be best ?
+ Leave them in pots for this season, keeping watered
+ Plant out, but just sink the whole content of pots into ground leaving the canes close together
+ Plant out, and try and tease the roots apart and space them in a row.
I'd just knock them out of the pots and plant as is, then split them come wintertime, if you disturb the roots, you may lose this years fruit.
As for the current topic, seems a pity you can't get nematodes for bad neighbours."We could say the government spends like drunken sailors, but that would be unfair to drunken sailors, because the sailors are spending their own money."

Oh! My earlier post seems to have disappeared, or maybe I pressed the wrong button.....:o
In it, I just said that: 'Plant out, and try and tease the roots apart and space them in a row' would be my choice for the raspberries. I would accept a short term set back for long term gain.:)
Enjoyed a very surreal interlude today:- had to protest to tall lady of my age, who invaded my personal space in the supermarket!
- predicted and then witnessed a minor car accident
- found myself in a huge, empty warehouse, then learned of its future as a cider factory
- got tacit agreement from scrap man to purchase my copper wire
- discovered St Boniface's birthplace :A
The rest of the day was fairly normal, but tonight I had bids on 3 Hayterette lawnmowers, and at one stage I feared I might win them all!
As it turned out, I only got one, to use as a rough mower in the chicken areas and the orchard. One of the others, the same age and slightly smarter, went to £186, which was double what I paid.0 -
