Woohoo Dave what great news! Sounds as if you are really getting places
I always think it is best to live somewhere for a while before making changes, nothing worse than rushing a job and making an expensive mistake.
We've been all over the place with these plans! Pushing out at the front wasn't on our list because we wanted a view of our garden, but we have a 60' front garden to develop, so that's still possible.
Speaking of gardens, the stream garden wasn't completely trashed by the sheep. Various plants are popping up and making a small contribution, but it's still a long way from being 'finished.' That's fine, I want it to evolve at a gradual pace. .0 -
Such exciting times for people on the Dreamers ThreadTaking responsibility one penny at a time!0

House plans, once decided on - :eek:we have 3 options! - will need to get planning permission, which is a formality, but takes time.
We'll get started on the garage soon, now we know what we're doing at that end, as we'll need to spread into there for storage etc. Hope we won't need to live in it! :rotfl:
I have a few weeny tomatoes too!0 -
I don't do toms this year. Shame, I always seem to get good early ones judging by Dave's reaction when I post my first ones,0

Crazy weather here today, maybe 30mm of rain overnight and today is sun then pelting rain/hail. So annoying, I'm trying to pot-on perennials bought as plugs last year and I just can't get out for more than a few minutes without getting drenched.
Think I might give up and stick to sowing the seeds that were with this months issue of Garden Answers, which I can do in the conservatory0 -
It's still very bracing here, but dry and sometimes sunny too. :j
I had a squelch up the stream to collect hairy bittercress, which has been colonising in places. It's not really a problem along the field, where it's dwarfed by the neighbour's docks, nettles and brambles, but the seeds get washed down into my stream garden.I'm probably on a hiding to nothing, but at least I've made an effort.
Now it's under partial control, the other maintenance up the stream is just brushcutter armed with a metal blade a couple of times in summer.
Very quiet here today. Some friends moved out of their barn conversion here on Friday, thus breaking the curse, though they sold to an 'investor,' and we all know what that means.
Anyway, the loony pair who live next door got wind of the sale and marched into the EA's to demand that the purchasers be told certain things about living here, otherwise the agents would be liable if there was any come-back. I think they got the Friday girl, because the agents complied!
The answer came back that the purchasers weren't bothered by any of the 'revelations,' especially as they wouldn't be living here!
I bet they didn't mention that a really bitter old couple with nothing to do, except complain and cause mischief, live next door and listen to your phone calls!:rotfl:0 -
Very windy here over the past couple of days here too and lots of rain. OTOH I have never had geraniums from the previous year flowering in their tubs in May.
Chickens are laying well. Most days are a 4 egg day now. One of the chickens lays a very big egg every few days which usually turns out to be a double yolker. Refreshed their dust-bath earlier today and they have been queuing up to use it.:D
Bathroom being tiled next week and hope it will be finished and all the fittings in by the end of the week. Our plumber has been poorly and has only been doing half days and he hasn't been coming every day so progress has been slow.
My replacement plug lavender plants finally arrived (the first lot turned up black and rotten) so now they are in their pots to be grown on over the summer. Indulged in some retail therapy today and bought some hanging baskets for all the ruddy begonias that I have. I bought a 'lucky dip' collection of bedding plants and half of them were 2 varieties of begonia's - I emailed to complain and the retailer basically said 'tough luck'.
Still got a good deal on the hanging baskets. Lead the Good Life sent me a 15% off voucher, which went through, but I think there was a glitch because at checkout they took off another 15%:D I thought I would try these 'Easy fill hanging baskets' http://www.leadthegoodlife.com/set-of-4-14-inch-easy-fill-hanging-baskets-with-4-x-watering-fountains.html
Dave Mr BD is auditioning for a part in Jesus Christ Superstar later in May so wish him luck - he wants the part of Herod.:eek:It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.

That's got me intrigued Dave. Perhaps I haven't been following things closely enough to know whats what on this?
Would this "bitter old couple" be Mr Dog and his wife? Is it possible for them to listen in to other peoples phone calls? (interested because I'm having a bit of a problem at the moment and cant tell whether anyone can hear what I am saying on my phoneline, but I can hear voices way way back in the background on it sometimes and they are obviously pretty near, as they are speaking in Welsh). That's all I can make out, and doubt I'd know what they were saying, even if I understood the language yet...so assume they cant hear exactly what I am saying?:eek:0 -

No, they're totally different people, separated by 250metres (and several million years of evolution too! :rotfl:)
This place isn't the Archers, so I don't do an omnibus edition, but suffice to say that many of our neighbours are eccentric in some way. (So are we, I guess!:o)
There are roughly 18 properties in the neighbourhood; many of them grouped together as a complex where the [STRIKE]inmates[/STRIKE]inhabitants share some facilities ......and rules. A good mobile signal isn't one of them though, so calls may need to be made outside.....with potential consequences.
Our signal here is great, and we have only one rule: 'do as you would be done by.'0
