    well I don't care lol

on sunday when we were clearing part of the brick building... we had music blasting from the van....which was parked right next to the footpath...not often we do have music playing

at the end of the day... I am not going to stop playing music on MY land...

we will also be having some 'social gatherings' too at the ranch, with some of our biker friends...

there is a night club and 2 pubs in the village which is approx. 3 miles away, and in the late evening if you are outside you can hear their music ( depending on which way the wind is blowing)

as long as our music is not played after 11pm, no one can do anything about it....

CTC that would drive me to the edge although I think we may share a similar taste in music :D

I just feel that music is such a deeply personal thing and listening to a genre you dislike especially when it is being played loudly can be really stressful. Occasional parties I don't mind however when I am trying to relax on a sunny day I hate being subjected to it. Not that I would complain, although I did once when local teenagers were playing rude music and my DD was asking what the words meant

We just invested in a couple of splash suits for rumlet so that he can play outside in all weathers :D I think it is so important for children to grow up in the fresh air. Our DD had a chance to have her own patch of garden to grow what she wanted in it however she just wasn't interested. I am hoping Rumlet will enjoy gardening a bit more.

    Re music,...

Know one can here ours most of the time. When DH is playing they can. We keep this to before nine when its just us, the sax really carries.

Our thing with visitors /parties and music is we warn neighbours first. If they are thinking 'shall we go out on Saturday or stay in' it might be knowing music about is the thing that makes the decision for them. If you are sitting at home wishing you'd got dolled up and booked a table and you almost did its some how worse.

When they have had had parties they have actually always invited us. We've rarely gone, when we have we have just popped in to say hi to show good will and let them know we are not fuming about .

This covers the half dozen houses within a mileish. Sound carries a lot further than that of course, but.....we are more considerate than we have to be about time.

I do cut my grass early though, :)

We just had a Hawk trainer go over, very low. Love to see them - it's usually a sign of good weather when they come and loop the loop and dive over Abersoch. :) First full day we were here (last Wed) there was a camouflaged Spitfire looping the loop over the field. :j

Just been to the local garden centre for some plants and lunch. OH had soup of the day (it was broccoli and stilton) with walnut bread, but I was feeling a bit blurghh after walking round the plants, so only had some sparkling elderflower presse. We sat out in the garden to eat, and it was really hot! :) Better get out on the deck and planting! We have lavender, violas, a pink, and bronnze coloured heuchera (sp?). Oh and a very nice looking saxifrage, though I'm not sure how well it will survive over the winter. But worth a try.

yes the music was loud.... but it was the van speakers. with the door open.. so apart from us, the people who were walking on that part of the path could hear it...

what I cant stand is kids screaming... not playing and laughing, I love that sound, but kids actually screaming for no reason... our next door neighbours kids used to do it... and one day hubby walked out and said on the top of his voice.. there must be something wrong with them... they didn't do it again lol...

The country isn't always quiet, though I believe most of the heavy stuff has finished here and we drift into a more sedate mode now, Mr Dog permitting.

Of course if our soil was poor, it would just be grazing land, with only the hay harvest, which doesn't require the same size of machinery. The light, fertile soil has a down-side in that respect, but I'd rather have it! :D

It was usually very quiet at our last house, despite being within a mile of the city centre, but that was because other people's houses shielded us and we were on a sort of 'shelf' above the valley floor. Same with the winds, but there was a penalty with restrictions on views and winter sun.

It's extremely hard to have it all.
  • Congrats CTC they look fab piglets! My lot are being terrors, ducking under the gates to their pen and escaping everywhere, great to see them all so well though. My second heavily pregnant ewe went into labour yesterday but it turned out to be a phantom pregnancy, even the vet had to examine her a few times to convince herself there was no lamb! She has gone back in the maternity ward and is now trying to steal the other ewe's lamb, keeps licking her and calling to her, so I'm looking for an orphan to adopt!

We have no real noise issues apart from the obvious living on a busy-ish main road in a busy village. And on that basis I'm not overly bothered about any noise we generate here, nothing deliberate just going about our business.

The animals can be very noisy at times, if I'm late getting out to feed it's like all hell has broken loose, but like CTC says nothing out of hours for anyone to really complain over.

OTOH my one disagreeable neighbour always gets up at dawn on a Sunday and goes out on her noisy quad laying stones on the track that goes to my yard and on to her house.

I couldn't give a flying **** because I'm either already up and on the phone to hubby or asleep in bed and I don't hear it. But nearly all the other people round here work and I bet it spoils their Sunday lie in, miserable coo.

This summer (ie soon) we are going to start having friends round to enjoy the long evenings, we're planning a big unveiling of the new facilities we're working on too. Shame my nearest neighbours are mostly back-stabbing, two-faced ar$€$ or they'd get an invite instead of having to listen to our fun!!!

Do hope everyone's medical appointments have gone ok, something seems to be about, few of my friends are having issues too. Counting down to Alfie's return.....T-2 days!

I feel like having a go at that chamomile lawn I'd ruled out.

No west sun, on clay......seems doomed.

I would gladly do a moss one but I think its too sunny for that. I might try planting a patch of moss actually and see how it copes.

Package of nematodes to have a go at the slugs has arrived! :j

Never used nematodes before but flew into a rage to see my delphinium had been devoured and I'm just about to plant a lot of hostas.

Yes, how did yours go CTC? :)

I went in for my blood test, apologising profusely for not turning up yesterday, but she'd not noticed. :rotfl:It's a 5 minute job.

Indeed, she'd no idea why she was taking more blood, so I explained, we looked it up on the 'puter and then got on with it. I then went to reception to find out if any news about the X ray, so the receptionist looked up my notes, told me the basics and decided I might like a telephone call from the doc in a week or so.....:T So, looks like I'm in the clear more or less.

We're a bit laid back here, but I've no complaints, as everything gets done....eventually. I also know that if you really need to see someone urgently, you'll always be seen same day. That's the bottom line, isn't it?;)
