LIR Hope you are feeling a bit better today.

OK I have ordered the lobelia and verbena seeds in the hope they are easy enough to grow and fill the gaps around my new plants. The weather is lovely today however I will be at the dentist instead of gardening today  I am beginning to think there is some conspiracy to keep me out of the garden!

Well my leg is black and blue, but at least now the bruise is coming out, it isn't so tender...

got the Dr's in an hour, so might go and visit the library after that to see if I can sign up ( in a diff county so don't know if they allow it?)

also going to look into the legal side of potentially supply shops/restaurants etc with quail eggs in the future...

do you still need a packing station number/grade the eggs etc with quails??

Think I will be cheeky and email a few of the breeders/suppliers on the internet. lol..

Yes thanks, I feel better today. I had to give some blood for a test this morning and the nurse was asking if I'd eaten silica and salt for breakfast but I am so much better this morning.

I tapped DH on the arm at about three o clock this morning to tell him I felt better and he gave me a huge hug and kiss and that helped even more. :D

Honestly it was probably a confidence knock as much as anything, I know it sounds silly but I know my normal parameters of coping, throwing other stuff in to the mix like the sampling I had to do yesterday was just something that made an unusual demand on my body and on a day it was feeling already a bit low so it was just a bit much. That I couldn't do something so 'simple' really knocked my confidence.

This morning my nail beds aren't deathly grey any more and my skin is normal colour any my temperature is stable and I'm not shaking and I'm Stronger. I'm probably not going to go weeding but I think I might consider cutting the grass at the back. A French drain goes in at the side today and that is the end of the major ground works at the side and the way is clear for DH and I to start.

The lanscapers quotes have started to come in.

We will be saving an awful lot of money by doing it our selves. My favourite of the bunch are talking about phased work of between 15 and 200 k. :rotfl::rotfl:.

Whie I can imagine spending a LOT on hard materials, in a big garden.......they'd only seen pictures of the little herb garden.
  • Rummer, hope the tooth is ok :( I hate the dentist, haven't even registered and we've been here 5 years but DH says he's chipped something and wants to go next time he's home.

Yes those seeds will grow well, I have some too, I still haven't managed to sow ANY seeds yet. I went to the garden centre and was quite horrified at the price of plugs so I excised I would grow my own, the seeds will soon catch up and you'll save a fortune...in theory! I want to grow plants for lots of hanging baskets and containers so this year I will finally have a garden!

I am going for a red white and blue theme in one border out the front and in the baskets. I also have a black and white border planned on the east side and a a hot border on the south/ south west, am looking for perennials to fill those cheaply and sent for chiltern seed catalogue. I just need somewhere for all the lovely pastels to go...

I must remember to just sow what I need though, not the whole packet, thats when I get overwhelmed, with millions of things needing potting on, going leggy or just being forgotten and left to die!

Sad news, little piglet didn't make it, I didn't think he would ever be 100% if reared away from mum and he wasn't able to be left with her, so perhaps kinder that he went early on. The others are doing great, sneaking under gates to see the big pigs next door and into the yard.

In reality I can't promise to always have the time needed to devote to one extra special animal, even as a full time small holder. Bottle feeding kids and lambs last year was a round the clock experience.

But good news as well, went looking for a missing sheep Friday night, expecting the worst, only to find she had a lamb in tow! It was amazing, she is a Shetland so very hardy and independent and had obviously taken herself off to have her baby in peace!

I rounded all the sheep up over the weekend as I noticed another one looking decidedly close to giving birth. So I managed to get her into the maternity wing with the other mummy sheep, next door to mummy pig. I suspect a couple of others will lamb this year too, having had a close look over them so I'll be bringing them into the yard every evening to feed.

Must get off my bum and do some proper work, then going to vet with semi bald ferret for a check up!

Glad to hear you are feeling better LIR

Sorry to hear about the piglet Ferret

The pain in my mouth is scarily intense so I am dropping by the pharmacy to get some numbing gel as the painkillers haven't even taken the edge off :( Dentist later today although I think I am going to have to have the tooth removed :( I had root canal work on it a couple of years ago and they said at the time I was lucky to keep it so I doubt there will be much they can do. I am terrified of the dentist and have been shaking all morning :(

    Self pitying moan over!

Hope by now your tooth has been sorted, Rummer. Also fingers crossed that CTC has found the doctor helpful. :)

I forgot to go to the nurse today to have another blood sample taken.....:o Well, I didn't totally forget, but the mower was playing silly b*gg*rs. Another bit fell off, and I totally lost track of time, fixing it.:o

The mower's fine now, and so am I, probably. No one has rung to say there was anything on the X ray or scan. Anyway, I get to see the nurse tomorrow, which is inconvenient, but all my own fault.:naughty:

I didn't forget and the nurse ( not phlebotomist as she was busy) felt like she was taking a stab in the dark. :D. I was a bit dehydrated but she rudely asked if I had had salt and silica for breakfast. She was running early so I hadn't had time to get one of my reluctant veins up for her just ran straight in. Never the less, I was a good little bleeder once stuck and gave it up. I don't think I have even bruised. :)

Mole valleys truck has broken down so they cannot deliver my land drains. My digger driver might or might not be able to pick it up. So it will either be done this week or next week.

I feel like going to see Alfie. I want control of my diary so I can make plans. :(

Sounds a bit like the one I see here.

    I said, "I can't feel a thing; doesn't hurt a bit."

She replied, "I can make it hurt, if you like!"

She talks garden though, so she's OK.;)

Glad you are already feeling pro-active again, but it's a shame about the drains. You'd think they'd have access to other trucks: after all they have mutual agreements with just about every hire and supply organisation! :(

So fed up with mowing now, but decided to try and do it all.

Half way through the afternoon a delivery of logs turned up out of the blue. None is fit to burn right now, but If I can finally convince our suppliers that we'd be happy to receive deliveries each month until September, I think we might have cracked it! :)

The tooth is out :( however I am no longer in pain which is a huge relief :D

When I had finished at the dentist I took a wee walk around the shops and found a whole selection of Dahlias reduced so I bought a few for the sunny border. The weather is due to be nice tomorrow so I am hoping to get the rest of the bed dug over and the plants I have so far put in. If Rumlet keeps it together I will also get my flower seeds planted up as I am aware that time is ticking.

I hope those feeling under the weather or undergoing tests are doing ok.
