  • Rummer, it might be worth having the guy back to clear the garden for you anyway, so you have a clean slate to start with.
Especially now because of little Rumlet....

Davesnave, now that's a VERY good idea putting those prrrriiiiccckily things there...

    evening all

ive been working all day and gave son a lift to train station 4pm [his car still in garage] , dashing off then to scats, i get a phone call.. he'd left the ticket for the gig he was going to at new house  bearing in mind from here, train station is 5 miles west and new house is 5 miles east and southampton is 16 miles opp direction.. so i decided stupidly it was easier to pick him up at train station again, drive to new house ,get ticket ,drive him to soton... SO SO WRONG :o GOT STUCK IN A TRAFFIC JAM  BOTH WAYS....
set off from station 4.45 and got home 7pm.....
i never never want to ever ever have to commute in or out of a town in what is left of my life...:D

BUT APART FROM THAT ..... good day really :rotfl:

tomorow is another boxing up stuff day..:wall::wall:

getting bids on the generator which is good :D

how are your sales going rhiwi ? has it picked up after the xmas rush :)

It would be great but is all dependant on the cost :( I will get a quote nearer the time and may just get him to do some if it works out to be too expensive. The garden needs a lot of investment ATM. The shed is in a bad way, fence is down and the greenhouse is missing loads of panels and all that is before I think about planting and aggregates.

A bit at a time and we will get there, it is just frustrating that it is things requiring money and not just elbow grease which I could manage. My plan is to do half an hour a day out there to clear paths and get things tidied so that when the weather settles I can focus on the beds.

Alfie - sounds like everything is coming together for your move - you must be really excited (and cream crackered, lol!) and good news about the bids on the generator too ;) We're finding eBay pretty busy atm - in fact we're struggling to keep up with parceling things ready for collection/delivery. DH sold £200+ worth of bits to one customer alone a couple of nights ago and we had over forty parcels to send today :D Blooming *ipost* are a waste of space though - I waited in all day for them to collect today, but no show

Rummer - know what you mean about the cost of replacement potting sheds - the one we inherited here had rotted from the ground up as the PO had it sitting straight onto the soil :o We replaced with a much larger one with double doors the year before last and I spent ages shopping around to find the best deal......think we got it on eBay in the end - like almost everything in our house :rotfl:

We had a power cut here last night from around 9pm till 2.30am - managed to get through all the storms without losing power, then on a relatively calm (albeit rainy) night, the lights (and everything else) go out......

really noticed last night, the nights getting lighter, not long now....before spring is here....cant wait to feel that spring sun/warmth on my face....enough to brighten anyone's spirits up..

Phoebe.. glad the bay is going really well, I need to get a lot more listed...as I have only got a few bits on there now... so losing money now on the monthly shop fees etc...

I feel its been one long wet winter....with no end in sight...lol..

    I've been Money Tipped!
I've got a sunny morning. Sunny on this wet land is well received. Its true every thing looks a bit grim and dirty, but......at least we can see it , its not grim and grey!

Could be showery here, but right now, it's lovely. :D

Staggering along, taking each day as it comes, but throat lurgy is slowly relenting a bit. :) All the Panto nights have sold out, so that should be another £1500 for the village hall roof by Saturday. :j

Hope to plant some more seeds today, Rummer.

I popped down to the local garden centre for compost and picked up some perennial salvias in their 'dead plant' section for 99p, which is more like the price I want to pay than their usual £7.99! There's nothing wrong with them that a bit of drying out and sunshine won't cure.

Our last chicken shed (10'x 6') was £732, so more expensive than average, but as it has an easy 20 years life in it, it will be cheaper than two B&Q type sheds which might only go half the distance, if that. If you know you're staying put, get the best shed you can, Rummer....all real wood and no particle board roof or floor, for example. ;)

My BiL is coming down tonight. He's hoping they'll spend the weekend in his caravan here!!:rotfl:

Oh Dave what are you planting? We will need to save up for any garden things so will have plenty of time for research and window shopping :D

Nothing now, as I've had to do some other work instead, to make the caravan approachable on foot. :(

All the diggers and LRs that have been through the yard in the past month have left it very much the worse for wear.

It would have been toms and peppers, plus some flower/shrub seed that needs to just go outside and get whatever cold there is.

Dave, I keep meaning to ask, have we missed a 'significant birthday'?? I've noticed mention of state pension applications ;)
