Hehe, I've just sold my first half dozen eggs for a quid. How funny :)

To a neighbour, so I'm thinking they got a good deal with our lovely pale blue and minty blue Araucanas and lovely chocolatey Maran eggs.

    Congratulations!

I miss those lovely boxes of mixed colour eggs! Nothing beats them for looks IMO, the dark and the blues and greens. Even my own opalescent ones weren't as lovely.

I have a site meetin here on Friday again and I'm thinking increasingly about what next, We cannot afford next phase of the house yet. (Will not, will not, will not borrow) so do we save for ever or chip away at inside or a bit of both or do an outbuilding or what.

I quite fancy the coach house next (alfie knows why!) but I have no idea how much it would cost to get a shell up for that.
  • LIR, I would go with whatever would make your life more comfortable...whether that is completing certain rooms in the house, OR maybe something outside that would make life easier outside with the Animals/access/land etc..

Did people know that Alfie is a wonderful Amazing person... just thought I would say it again..lol.....But I know people already know that....

  • I know it's been the wettest for years and years, but am really going to have a serious go at water control in the garden. 25m of land drain should be arriving this week -

It'll be a ghastly, muddy job but aim to get this in the ground so it can drain until April then can start planting after the last frosts.

She is. I can vouch for that. When we moved here and bought the house and land and you asked for my address, alf, i was still in that city-mentality of not trusting people. I remember saying to my OH: Do you think I should give this complete stranger our home address? You sent me a gardening book and there began the rehabilitation of my trust in human nature. ;)
  • Morning all,

Not much to report, except we have now found out who the person who keeps reporting us up at the ranch.... and it was the person we thought initially..( there might be more than one, but at least we know one of them).

He is the one that was in dispute with the old owner of the ranch for years, saying he owned a bit of our land... he also mentioned it to us when we first moved in....so it looks as though he is just generally an a$$ee=hole... by his mannerism he has been a bit up himself, and does talk look down at people.. so thinks he's always right....'WRONG' this is a diff guy who phoned the police, and the disaster help line.. who apparently cane out and tried clearing under the bridge... but that guy did come straight out and tell hubby, when he got there, and said he panicked, as he had never seen the stream like that before.... and he told us/confirmed about the reporting neighbour lol....so he has got our contact number as well now...

    right cuppa time...

The thing is, he hasn't got much of a life left, he's got Cancer...and he has now got a lady companion, which has the nickname the 'black widow' as her last 5 relationships/husbands have all died, and have left her money etc... its like she seeks the ill ones out lol.....

Yes it was genuine concern and panick... he was the guy that went into the piggy run and grabbed hold of the dogs that were attacking the piglets...

I don't think he has seen the stream go up like that, so he didn't know it goes back down as quickly as it goes up..

He has our telephone number now as well,

Yep good idea..... we give the odd nice neighbour the odd pack of chops etc now and again... as they do keep an eye out for us... one of the neighbours buys a bit of meat off us now and again...

WHEN we have our 'gatherings' up the ranch, we are going to invite a few of the walkers, and neighbours to the bbq during the day etc... they might not come, but at least they would have been invited, PLUS our way of thinking too, there will be some of our meat on the bbq, sooooo potentially if they like our meat, they will become customers...

EDIT... it will have to be the sausages, as the bacon is flying out, with repeat orders now...
