:j Yay the laptop has been fixed so I am back online without having to read things on a teeny tiny screen :j

    Happy Belated Birthday Dave :D

CTC So sorry that things are tough for you at the moment, I have not forgotten our discussion and I will get back to you later this week once I have looked through things properly.

The rain is pouring down today so I have not been out to do anything in the garden yet but I am chewing over going out to do a wee 20 mins and get another path cleared.

Does anyone have a recommendation for waterproof gardening gloves that are not too bulky? I have been using the same brand for years and they always leak at the seams so am keen to get better ones as I spend a lot of time gardening in the rain :rotfl:

Hmmmm...looks as if some cash generated by a recent scrap metal windfall will be needed to repair damage revealed today at the end of the hen run. :(

I checked external boundaries some time ago, but the little passage between hen run and orchard was missed due to the state of the ground there. Today, we noticed an electricity vehicle had fouled the sheep fence, breaking it, so the tension in that section has gone. It wouldn't be so bad if it was just sheep fence, but that's only one element of a 3 part whole, incorporating poultry netting and Tensar poly fence too. The poultry netting is also buried, so not a doddle to replace!

Being realistic, we can't expect compensation from the power people for more than the sheep fence, but just separating the old one from the other parts will take hours. If we're lucky, we may be able to get a new one in over the existing poultry net, which isn't torn too badly. We're able to repair the Tensar ourselves, so it might not be too bad. It's just a hassle.

    I've been Money Tipped!
Rummer, I am yet to find gloves I really like. The best so far are the ones that are sort of rubber on the fingers and palms, and stretchy stff on back of hands and top back of fingers,

I really get stressed by gardening glove choosing, because they all fail!

One last push has seen us tidy up the pear row for spring. Roses and pears retired in, and checked.

news. WE HAVE GREEN FLY ALREADY. :(. Grump, grump. Grump.

Also a far bit of black spot out there. Didn't do anything preventative over winter and I think I am seeing the result of that with the wet and mild weather.

Well, I stink of horse and garden. And its not a good smell.

That dread ful smell of Tom cat is in my front hall again, I really need to get the old carpet up and the lovely stuff Alfie has given me down. I want to take her advice and lay it out to measure it to see how to get the most out of it, but.......we need some sunny days for that.

I'm quite tempted to get some Lino for the front hall way. Stylish, no.......but better than carpet for the sods who
Insist on wearing boots in. :(

These are the gloves I have bought for the last few years and they have been pretty good but as I say they leak at the seams and I end up with mucky nails. I am not overly precious but I would rather have gloves that keep me clean and dry.

The only gloves I use are the heavy duty rigger ones. which aren't waterproof at all. Nothing else copes with the brambles and thorn, besides being cheap to replace.

For greenfly, strike up a relationship with wrens. Ours just nip under the poly door and clean up, anytime. :D

Off to do my last performance soon. Hoorah! I am running on empty and copious quantities of alcohol, if that makes sense. :rotfl:The throat will last, but I have conjunctivitis now, so without my specs, anything could happen!

Last night, an unscripted joke I added caused something of a stir. Some laughed, some growled. I only implied that maybe Aladdin had come into such riches because he'd installed a wind turbine down at Twankey's Laundry. :rotfl:Still a raw subject here. :o

It goes in again tonight! :p

Happy belated birthday Dave, and I remember how tired I used to get after doing a show. Hope the last night's party is a good one though.:D

You can get quite nice patterns in vinyl flooring. We have a pale rustic tile pattern in our bathroom, it looks good, plus it was half price in sale. :money: Kitchen we have pretend wood vinyl floor - real wood not an option really with water etc in kitchen, plus the bifolds open onto garden, so mess from small boys when they visit and play out there is easier to clean up. ;) Big choice of patterns, and so much cheaper than real tile (too hard for me to be falling on! :o;) ) or engineered wood. Go for it! Very easy to mop! :)

No party unfortunately.:( Since one of the pubs closed, we have Hobson's choice and, regrettably, they could only offer sandwiches at roughly twice the price of last year's sausage & chips!

Won't be supporting them in the future. It cuts both ways. :p

By 9am this morning there was no stage, no curtains, no scenery, no chairs; just a clean and empty Village Hall. We are like a well-oiled machine , but as you say, it is very tiring, especially for the children. I estimate that they (and us! ) have spent best part of 24hours this week being very quiet in a little side room.

Praise be for hand held computer games, tablets and smart phones! :rotfl:

Alf, it will all be worth it! :A:A

Another dull and drizzly day today.

OH is off all this week so we are going to focus on the house and especially the garden to het the rest of the paths and the planters cleared as well as cutting back a few things. Sadly it is too wet to weed however we can get all the other things done and the greenhouse cleared out.
