Oh we had one for years and it was used however it died and we have just never got round to replacing it. The money always has another place to go. I have posted a few times on freegle/freecycle with no joy however maybe someone will have been given a new one for xmas!

Def agree MrsAtobe. you either like and get on with them, or hate and haven't got a clue...lol...

I must admit... I didn't get on with it.. and hated the way the paddle used to leave a hole in the bottom, or even get stuck in the bread...

I don't buy the normal sliced bread anymore... for two reasons I was finding it tasteless, and bland, PLUS there is soooo much crap put into it for it to stay fresh....I buy the supermarket bakery bread... which is lovely, and I thought it might have less crap added to it, BUT the other day I did see someone brushing on some solution... when I got chatting to the girl, she said she had to wear gloves as what ever it was brought her out in a rash... that doesn't sound good....

So I thought I would try and get my head around making our own bread.... and this time I really do need to try and get it right.... even if I just end up making bread rolls etc...on the weekends..

I also have an old kenwood mixer my mother gave me... ( I can remember her buying it in the early 80's) has been in the cupboard for ages as it was leaking grease/oil from where the attachments go...and that's why I haven't used it in a long while... now that I am slowly doing a cut throat clean/clear out... I think I might have to leave go of it and maybe buy something similar, but ALOT CHEAPER....while clearing out that cupboard, I found dog chews right at the back... lol

I've got the Argos Cookworks one, I love it. When it dies, then I will buy the Panasonic that everyone raves about, but I wasn't sure I'd use one much before I bought one, tbh. Is it worth having a look on Freegle or Free cycle for one? Or ask Alfie, she's sure to know of one going spare :)

I know that may sound a bit 'buy cheap, buy twice', but you either love them or hate them.

We've used Panasonic breadmakers for many years now. Well, I say 'we'. DH is the bread baker. We never buy bread unless it's a yellow sticker job :rotfl:
The breadmaker is used for all manner of breads & doughs, cakes & jams. However, we prefer to do the cakes the old-fashioned way.

Grey, damp & dark here today but another calmish night due before the gales & storms return.

Tried Vitamin C, rhiwie? Or a mix of flours?

    Nothing much to report here.

Yesterday, I tried to take my DD back to Bournemouth, do a couple of things whilst there and then nip up to my old city to say a quick 'hello' at a reunion of ex-pupils from 1989.....except I didn't manage it all. :o:mad: :(:o

The reunion was just an informal drink in a pub, but it would have been good to see folks, if only to try and guess who they all were. :rotfl:Unfortunately, when it was due to start, I was still only at Dorchester, and feeling quite tired, so I did the sensible thing and headed home. There was a time when I could 'drive all night' as the song goes, but that time isn't nowadays! :o

Today I decided to take things easy, so I headed off, armed with the Mole Valley vouchers people had given me for Christmas. I wanted to get a couple of special offers before they expired at the end of the month.Well, they normally expire then, but they finish on the 24th in December.....

So I didn't get those! I bought a whole load of boring things that had never been on offer, like screws, fence posts and bird seed. :rotfl:

Glad you're feeling cheerier, Alf. "A dose of LIR", I'll have to remember that remedy :)

We've been on some lovely walks from the doorstep here in the last few days. It's the only thing stopping the cabin fever. We dodge the bad weather...

We used to bake our own bread daily until we moved here and haven't had the space for the Panasonic. There is a knack to it. The recipe in the book needs adjusting to taste. Took us quite a few goes before we perfected it, or at least adjusted it to our taste. It's definately more dense than shop bread, but I found that I only needed one slice, rather than the two or three I'd have for breakfast with the lighter stuff from the shops. It was interesting to see the difference in effect the different loaves had on m bllod sugar levels when I got gestational diabetes and was testing my blood sugars regularly. Our local bakers makes lovely bread, so I've been happy with that, but it is £1.60 per large loaf. I'm sure we could make it for a lot less - and we eat a lot of bread in this house, at least one large loaf most days. As soon as we have the space, the machine will be out again.

Shattered after today's walk. It's a glass of red and bed for me.

I will come and twirl in my sparkly top in your sitting room again. :)

I don't usually wear that top with a sparkly candy too, but couldn't find the more humdrum one I normally team with it.

Restaurant was great. Wish you'd come with us. DH said after we'd driven off with out you....' Why didn't you invite alf?....and I said, because we're meeting your family and I like alf',':o

    .

Sadly I don't think I'm a universal cure. In laws probably greet lunch with me as much joy as I greet it with them :o

In fact my sil and I have worked well at building a better relationship in recent times, and it shows a lot, but it is a great regret in my life that I am not hitting the mark I would like to in my wifely duties to DH where it comes to in laws. There is only so much I can 'suck up'.

Lunch twice a year is probably my absolute limit......less now I don't drink........
