Hubby went to the ranch and a tree on the lane has blown over and has crashed onto someone's shed... the tree is not one of ours, BUT I should imagine as it was on the lane, but outside the person's fence, they might try blaming us....

There was a thread on OS about them and I was saying that I don't think I can justify the cost of the ones that come recommended.Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
well the loaf looked lovely, but when we left it to cool down, the inside was a bit doughy... so I have put it back in the oven...
BUT at least now I have a bit of confidence to make more loavesWork to live= not live to work0 -
Last night, wind never got really bad. Today has been rain, rain, rain - so depressing, but at least the water's not flowing through the house!
Just 10 mins from having a loaf from my breadmaker0 -

I got mine from a catalogue clearance shop that was open for a shortehile near us. It was in its box for a year as we were living in one room, there was no room t do anything with it.
Its most useful for me for kneading and rising ( no heating, remember) and its hygienic when you have cats and dogs hurtling around and sealed for big dogs who can reach anything.
When we have left dough to rise in the past in airing cupboards or warm boiler rooms more than once we have ground the door has been prised open by a determined cat who has curled up on the soft billowy yeast mattress in the earthenware bowl. :rotfl: The sour rough loaf from the starter it had been agony to start was the killer...first bath.....cat on the bowl........under the wretched tea towel.:rotfl:
DH prefers to knead himself ( I don't nowadays, to hard) but some days are too short and its quick, easy and effective. We always prefer to bake in the oven. No paddle hole, and a nicer shape loaf, a quick plait, a cottage, whatever. But sometimes coming down to a ready made loaf is a treat.
Now that bread is on my safe list I have to reevaluate my diet. Bread beore now has been a treat. I bloat badly on bread:o but if its on the small list of foods deemed safe to eat I get to explore a work I love but consider treat. Commercial bread makes me feel sluggish, slow, heavy. There are better ones now certainly, but bread IS something I miss from France and Italy. I might make a diff variety each week this year .....0 -

I've got the Argos Cookworks one, I love it. When it dies, then I will buy the Panasonic that everyone raves about, but I wasn't sure I'd use one much before I bought one, tbh. Is it worth having a look on Freegle or Free cycle for one? Or ask Alfie, she's sure to know of one going spare
I know that may sound a bit 'buy cheap, buy twice', but you either love them or hate them.Good enough is good enough, and I am more than good enough!:j
If all else fails, remember, keep calm and hug a spaniel!0 -

Hmmm, Rummer, I think we've got one of the good ones that we are no longer using as I now need lots of wholemeal and Lidl farmhouse wholemeal currently fits that bill. Its superb for white bread but wholemeal is a bit heavy. Pm me if you are interested0
