If it weren't for the fact that I survived Hurricane Hugo in 1999, I would be pooping myself on this hill tonight!0

It is wild and windy tonight
In the middle of watching no 1's on the bbc4. some good music, but some naff ones too... it drowns out ( not ment to be a pun) the sound of the rain and wind...Work to live= not live to work0 -
we still have this wild and wacky weather.. I could hear the slates rattling last night, think we might have had one or two move/slip come off..
Only cat napped last night... weather way to bad to sleep..
Its so frustrating got this time off, and the weather is pants...

Hard to comprehend, I know, but some of us really don't use Facebook.
I thought there'd be something out there, but aside from the baby stuff, I wondered if it would all be American?
Lots of wind and not much rain here. The chicken house moved about 5cm on its base, but then hit the buffers I'd put in. I must improve those, so it won't move at all.
Right, off to see if the road's OK.....0 -
Off to the vet again for check up soon. Honestly not looking forward to driving in this. Going to take back roads mainly because the have high hedges so more likely to be sheltered.
Wondering if we should take chainsaw?0 -

Beeches do seem prone to disease - rang the local tree preservation officer a few years ago when beeches across the road at old home were being chopped down as worried it was being done illegally. He got back to me about an hour later to say he'd checked, and that the trees were diseased and had to come down, the owner was devastated as he loved them.
The ones growing on the boundaries of the lotties are all diseased, so far the ivy has been stripped off them, but I gather it's probably only a matter of time before they become too dangerous to leave up (they are over a road as well as the lotties). They are shallow rooted trees too, so it's easy for their roots to get damaged - a number went locally when people did building work and left skips under the beeches. grrr!0 -
The gusts of wind are still strong... but at least we have a blue-ish sky for now..
Really haven't got the 'umf' today to do anything... BUT I really do need to do something constructive... as I feel I am wasting these days off....
Talking about seeds etc.... do you know what seed potatoes you are going to be ordering ???
I am also putting a little note book in the seed box, with a list of EXACTLY what I got.., with general gardening notes on there too..etcWork to live= not live to work0 -

I am not ordering any this year as the cost and effort far outweighed the gain for us last year. We rarely eat potatoes and tasty as they are home grown they were expensive and took up too much growing space so we are leaving them this year.
Woken up with a horrid cold todayhead is full of cotton wool and my nose is far too busy
I had great plans for today too
Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
We got very little sleep last night in the gale. All feeling rather grotty and groggy today.
The Ixworth is still regularly laying in all sorts of random places, although at least it's in one of the coops - it's just which one? We know when she has though cos she squawks about it for about an hour beforehand. One of the Marans is also gettting very clucky, so maybe there's hope that we'll have a few eggs per week for all this food we shell out on.
Let's hope the weather improves tomorrow.....
How was your trip to the vet's LIR?0 -
Trip to vets ok. Weather very mixed. Going from hairy scary, to delectable to hail that lay over an inch deep while out.
Wound looks brilliant.
Pointed out that she's coped with everything better than I had hoped which makes me wonder about life in general for her, and whether its time to up meds for her back generally anyway, maybe change drug class. Vet talked about putting her onto an opiate. Seems sensible but sort of confirms situation really that big dog cannot to on forever what ever the out come now is.
She's looking a bit pathetic this afternoon with Christmas gifts here. The toothbrush was brilliant, lasted at least seven minutes.she looked at it blankly or five and licked at it dubiously for one minute. Then ate it much slower than most things.
. The snowman provided the necessary 'competition' to eat it.
I have to wash some clothes to wear tomorrow. Anyone know if its going to freeze or what? I'm glad I'm seeing alf because it will be highlight.0
