Daydream thread... without the rose-tinted specs

  • I thought I ought to pop in to say hello and to let you all know what's happening in the world of the Witch!

After 27 years of domestic abuse I finally walked out of my marriage a month ago :o and now live in a small first floor flat 22 miles away from my allotment etc. I had hoped to keep it going, but in reality it's costing me a fortune in petrol so I'll not renew it this January.

But the day dream continues and will come to fruition by April at the latest. I had to go back to North Wales to collect grandchildren and stayed for a few days milking the goat, feeding the chickens and cooking on the Rayburn. Then my ex-DH (who divorced me nearly 30 years ago) surprised me by asking if I would go back, not just to the mountains but to him too!

I can officially become a fully-fledged member of the Daydreamers with 3 acres, a herd of goats, a sheep in lamb, pigs next year, loads of chickens and geese, and an enormous veggie patch to tend - all on the top of the beautiful Arenig mountains. :j:j:j

Stitchy!:j Let me be the first to congratulate you, not only for the imminent move, but also for having the courage to escape from what was clearly an unhappy situation.

I'm sure we all regarded you as a proper Daydreamer, but I had an suspicion there was something holding you back, though you left what it was unstated.

Well, you will soon be in at the deep end with the animals, but I expect your ex-ex has plenty of experience with their care, so not too scary.

That part of Wales is a total unknown to me, so I'll have a bit of a look later.

Excellent news and great to have you back!

    Love the tumbleweed rhiwie!

My excuse for not being here is that I'm now busier than expected, as the Outlaws are coming down on Thursday with the intention of putting in the barn doors.....

Glad I've just replaced two strip lights, so we shall be able to see as we freeze! :rotfl:

Madly tidying up to make room, but we needed to do some housework down there anyway. :o

Strange phenomenon in the polytunnel when it started raining today. It had been about 16-17c in there, but the cold rain on the cover led to instant condensation and a small shower from the resulting droplets formed on the plastic. I got quite wet!

Ex-DH has been looking after animals since before I left Wales all those years ago. I remember lots but will need a refresher in some of it. We didn't keep pigs when we were together before, but he's had a couple of weaners most years since then.

The Arenigs are beautiful and when I get chance I'll post a picture of the view out of what will be my kitchen window.

The move is scheduled at the end of March (just to make sure I'm doing the right thing!!) and then anyone is welcome to find their way up the mountain for a paned :D

Alfie I think you may have cracked it this time!:T ;)

If you get some papers labelled 'S21' just remember to light the fire with them. :D

Well, the barn's looking presentable inside. I even managed to use some of the carp we collected up to light my first bonfire of the winter.

Up in the poly, we cleared out the sweet pepper bed. The plants were still perfectly happy, but the remaining peppers weren't really ripening, despite being full sized. Must've collected another 4kilos, which I'll keep for a week and then put through a slicer. I'm fed up chopping them by hand!

    My Christmas tomatoes are flowering!
