And as for incomers we are more local than a load of them... we live 4 miles up the road... :rotfl::rotfl: bullooocks to the lot of them...Hubby is talking about putting up wooden fencing on both sides of the path, so when they are walking past/through our land they will not be able to see F all... be like walking through a back alley:D:rotfl: The more I think about it, the more I like his idea:DI wouldn't blame you.
Incomers can be from the next village if people are small minded enough.
Edit: According to Accuweather our current temperature is 3 degrees (cue for a number of 70s songs) but with a RealFeel of -1.
I can vouch for that. brrrrrr0 -
BUT its not the locals, the estate got built in the mid/late 60's all, at the time expensive bungalows, which were bought by people from away, now the bungalows are the same price as any other similar property in the valley, and its the people who bought them when they got built that are moaning, as they still think its a 'posh' estate... even though a load of the bungalows are rented out:rotfl:
You wait until 'paul the pig' is introduced to the 'girlie pigs' the locals will be witnessing piggy !!!!!!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: lets see how they would complain to the council about that:rotfl:
What I hate, is the fact whoever this person is, can not come and see/talk to us themselves, face to face..I think when we do a bit of drainage work to one of the pig runs ( is quite bad mud by the entrance to one of the runs, and this is where they wee and poo too) the top layer of mud etc will have to be the start of a compost heat, Right by the path:D now that will be a nice country aroma for them to wiftWork to live= not live to work0 -
It's a cold and frosty morning
Bright and clear with the cars and grass covered in a dusting of frost. Finally a chance to drag out the knitwear
I agrees Itsme that work is never done but if you don't take a half hour here or there ego enjoy it then what is the point of all the hard work? Although by the look of our garden currently we clearly spent too much time enjoying the space and not enough time tending itTaking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -

If I have read it right, we might have snow this week:eek::eek: well some places in the country...
We've been well spoilt this year with the warm autumn part making up for the late spring. But I can remember 6 foot snow drifts and minus 8 in early November when I lived near Saffron Walden some years back.
Havent sold at a car boot for some time, I enjoy a leisurely Sunday morning too much, but I popped into one yesterday at the stupidly late time of 10:30 and amazingly there were still good bargains to be had, two of which sold straightaway when listed on the Bay.0 -

Well done Rhiwie.. hope you made a good profit...:T
We have been spoiled this year with the weather, but it has been one extreme to another, stupidly hot, real heavy rain, bad wind:D, and unseasonal autumn temps..
Is it too late to plonk garlic in???? I know its not avisible, but I have some in the kitchen, which will only go to waste, so might as well plonk it and see:D..Work to live= not live to work0 -
Well, its dry?.so I should cut the grass. I'm going to try and let it warm up a bit first though, And if the dew lifts a bit all the better
.
It has been a wonderful warm autumn, for which I for one am VERY grateful,.
Looking ahead I think we have been very negligent in not bringing down one of the struggling and ivy suffocated plums in the back garden. I'm worried it will come down on the wall when we get a wind from the north.
The oak felled for the house has now had over a year weathering outside so we'll start sawing and stacking it now on dry weekends, but we've started using the old evergreen stash in the wood burner now. We've got a few years work of wood from that so might not order any logs this year at all.
I'd like to think about opening up the boarded/walled up fireplace in the middle front room soon. Getting a fire going in there wood be hugely beneficial to the house IMO. That room is also the only room in the house that ever feel actually 'damp'. My guess is, opening the chimney might help with that.0 -
Right. I am going to make a cuppa and some lunch and then clear out the seed tin. I still have loads of the free seed packets I was sent and I am never going to use them, where is the best place to rehome them? Obviously people here are welcome to them but there were no takes the last time I offered.Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0

Tin sorted
Every year I am undecided as to how best to organise the tin however for the last few years I have bagged seeds by month and whether they are sown indoors or out. Then I have a separate section for salads.
Looking at what I have I think the only things I need this year are peas and beans as I have loads of everything else :j any recommendations??
Oh and I cleared out 14 packets of flower seeds and binned two packets of other seeds so it is a bit leanerTaking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -

I parcelled up 20 packets last spring. Someone walked into our allotment shop and was talking about help for a scheme teaching people to grow their own food in the inner city. She got the unwanted rump of the onion sets and some potato seed from the shop and I gave her my seed stash.
Re peas, I like Golden Sweet as a mangetout; it has proved very cold hardy and productive over the years. For green peas Meteor works well as an early here. Usually plant in trays in mid-march and put out three weeks later.
For Runners I prefer the white ones; I find that they are less stringy.
French beans my green bean favourites are two Heritage varieties; Caseknife and Blue Coco which is purple. Both stay juicy for a long time rather than going beany or stringy quickly - caseknife about 10 days even in a hot summer and Blue Coco longer. Actually getting Blue Coco to set seed is difficult although I have found that it grows from beans that are not fully formed. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
Exciting stuff going on here today as we've finally got the plumbers in to fit two shower rooms, one up and one downstairs :j
It does feel as though we're starting to see a light at the end of the tunnel - I know, it's just a train, lol - as it will be the last area of the house to be re-plumbed (apart from running pipes and pump to attic floor for the bedrooms/bathroom-to-be up there)........
It will be fab to have this done before Christmas as it means we'll have one decent bedroom with an adjacent bathroom that is useable for guests :T
The plumbers are going to be here for quite some time though as it's all pretty complex with thick stone walls to drill through etc, plus we've chosen a *complicated* German shower........
DH is doing the tiling and decorating and has already been busy building stud walls as one shower room has been re-sited to where an annex kitchen was formally. With a bit of luck the two rooms will be done in a month or so........good job we've another bathroom plus a couple of loos to use elsewhere in the house
The weather here is gorgeous - but blooming cold......hope it stays dry for a while at least as we've a ton of Tarmac to dig up and get into the skip in readiness for DH's planned Italian style courtyard
Lawn-wise, I cut ours just before the *storm* and hopefully that's it now for this year - whilst it's small by some of your standards, it still takes me almost a full day to cut
Almost all of our veg beds are empty now - apart from some leeks and globe artichokes - and we're starting to re-think what we'll grow veg-wise next year as much of the stuff we opted for this year didn't work out.....such as growing waaaay too much spinach, not enough beans and the cabbages/caulis were a disaster!Mortgage-free for fourteen years!
Over £40,000 mis-sold PPI reclaimed0
