  • Rummer I am a bit of a supermarket tart:D, What I notice from about Sept/Oct onwards the basic/value ranges start missing from the shelves, its to make room for the more premium products ready for Christmas:mad::mad::mad:

Re- Cat food I normally supermarket own brand meat in jelly 400gm tins.. trays of 12 felix is cheaper at the mo in A$da at only £5 tray of 12, BUT looking at the wilkinsons website their own brand value meat in jelly are only 39p per tin, which works out at £4.68 per tray of 12.

What cat food do you buy? and I will keep an eye out for the deals etc for you.

We go through 2 - 3 tins a day, plus I buy Them tins of pilchards in bryne, and fresh liver or hearts as a treat during the week... we have 3 indoor cats

Rain, rain and more rain here in Glasgow. All the cars had light on at 15:00 :(

Standing water was rising in the garden so have rigged-up a drywell at lowest point using a large plastic pot with I drilled out, lined with weed fleece and filled with gravel. From that, ran some 15mm copper tube I found in garage through hole in wall and into drain - water is pouring out!

Picked up a Dendrobium orchid at B&Q, knocked down to a quid from £12.98. Now Googling what the heck to do with it...

JUST DONT CUT IT OFF WHEN FLOWERS DIE... THEY WILL BRANCH OUT AND FLOWER AGAIN

CTC Our cats have turned into really fussy eaters and after going through all the main supermarket brands they are currently eating Sheba :( Mercifully the other animals are happy to eat whatever they are given.

It was so dark today that the light was on by 1pm  thank goodness we had such a good summer :D

I have been thinking about our fruit growing, so far we have:
    • Rhubarb - Spring producing
    • Raspberries - all at the same time and seem to be declining in production.
    • Strawberry bed - Limited fruit
    • Gooseberry bush (purple) - This seems to be reaching the end of its days :(
    • Black currants - loads of plants great producers
    • Red currants - loads of plants great producers
    • Apple Trees (2) - maybe 4 apples/year
    • Pear Tree - Nothing ever
    • Cherry tree - 4 cherries per year
    • Plum tree - Oodles this year :D

Our trees are all miniature trees.

Now I am wondering what else we could put into the garden to give us fruit/nuts for longer periods of time. Space is not really and issue as long as what we plant does not grow too high.

You've just linked to one of my mates from school in Barney!

Surprised and pleased he's still alive, considering the jolly japes and experiments he used to involve himself in. :)

I think I recognise another name there too. Pity, but I'm not on Facebook. :(

The video reminds me of the fun DD2 and I had in Dawlish station back in 2004 when the storms closed the railway and stranded the trains under the cliffs.

You might have some growing nearby, but otherwise, I'd go for a thornless blackberry.

Nothing quite like blackberry & apple or blackberry jam! :D

I've been thinking about the 'failed' bit of the orchard. It may not be coincidence that all the duff trees were in the same part, although it's the opposite 'healthy' row of trees that has a bog form in the middle of it in weather like this. You'd think they would be the ones to suffer.

Anyway, I think we will remove the pears, which are doing nothing, and re-plant with the most tolerant apples, plums and damsons we can find. :)

Evening all. The clip of Ilfracombe triggered a memory of a holiday in Devon, we were staying on a farm near South Molton and had gone to Ilfracombe for Sunday dinner. The weather was just like that clip and we were sat in the car on the sea front car park watching the waves come right over the top of the sea wall, hoping for the rain to stop which it eventually did. We've had countless holidays in Devon and a few in Cornwall over the years, love it down there.

ctc, I feel for your hubby, toothache is horrible, believe me I know, I've got the plastic teeth to prove it lol.

Its a bit windy and wet here at the moment, take care everyone.

:D There's an awful lot of that goes on down here :D

I hear there was a 90mph gust on the Mumbles. Don't you just love it when there's warnings & panic for 70mph & nothing for 90mph :rotfl:

LIR, If you're still outside playing with the pH tester you'll end up half way along the M4 ;)
  • morning all:j

well its all quiet here now, no rain, no wind, and dare I say its bright out there..

We have a vintage fair locally this afternoon, haven't even sorted things yet:cool:, that was going to be done yesterday, but with hubby and the weather being bad, we need to do it this morning now, before we go..
