Yes they have 3 different styles now. OH has problems with a prolapsed disc so he has priority on picking the model. Hoping to go to John Lewis and find one we like and then get it off the tempur website, as we were going to be putting it on a credit card taking the interest free is the best option for us.

We just bought a digital soil pH tester. I am so excited. I'm sure most women reserve this level of excitement for perfume, new shoes or some such. Me, I was saying to DH 'drive FASTER, we can do some TODAY!'

Rain, rain and more rain here in Glasgow. All the cars had light on at 15:00 :(

Standing water was rising in the garden so have rigged-up a drywell at lowest point using a large plastic pot with I drilled out, lined with weed fleece and filled with gravel. From that, ran some 15mm copper tube I found in garage through hole in wall and into drain - water is pouring out!

Picked up a Dendrobium orchid at B&Q, knocked down to a quid from £12.98. Now Googling what the heck to do with it...

Yep, windier here than last weekend, Fence down again and jasmine pots have toppled onto their sides.

pH in the rose/ pear garden is 6.4 . :)

Pretty bad here too, though we're hardly aware of it inside the bungalow. :D One benefit of Pete being late with hedge trimming is that the elms are still around 9'-10' high so we have more protection than usual. The Horse Lady's beech screen also does a good job.

It's fair rattling through the little valley that comes up from the Taw and finishes here. Often that can be a quieter place, but today the oaks are thrashing around like dervishes. I took a brief walk up the stream this morning and there were literally hundreds of acorns in it. Must've been a good year for them. :)

We have no candles, but there's probably around 300 tea lights in the bureau! :)
  • Rhiwie.. electric went off for a few minutes here, so we have got the candles out just in case, got the lighter in my pocket ready...

I know there is a power cut in Clydach...

Hubby has been in A&E this afternoon, getting anti -b's as the side of his face is swollen with a bad tooth... it comes to something when you cant find a bl00dy emergency dentist:mad::mad::mad::mad:

He has just dropped youngest down his mates, as its his mate's 18th... so I have warned his to be careful, etc..

    Quote from Met Office
The strongest winds are expected to affect parts of southwest England and south Wales later on Saturday afternoon and during the evening, accompanied by squally heavy showers, including the risk of hail and thunder. With many trees still in leaf, the forecast wind gusts are likely to lead to some branches and trees being brought down, whilst leading to difficult driving conditions and also affecting outdoor events such as firework displays. Large waves and over-topping are also likely along some stretches of coastline.

Then the SW has 2 more days of rain (but not wind) warnings :(

CTC - I think you better up the intake of cans if you want to make that canned heat contraption :D
Sorry to hear about hubby's tooth problem.

CTC sorry to hear about hubby, hopefully the antibiotics will kick in quickly. I used to shop at Tesco however ASDA works out cheaper for our usual shop.

Pouring rain all day here and the garden is flooded already :(

Just gone on to do my weekly shop and the prices have gone up AGAIN  In fact the cat food we have been using, which wasn't on offer previously, has now gone up by 94p :mad::eek: Some of the other things we use have also been increased in price so it is back to the drawing board again.

I know I say this ALL THE TIME but I really do need to make the garden start working for us. Even if it is just salad, courgettes and a few other bits and pieces it all adds up and saves us pennies. Plus it is a great source of free exercise ;)
