Will have to phone up the other one's owner that we had lined up to buy - It was white & had bits missing.........

Had someone lamping down my field where the female lambs & ewes are. This was about 10.30pm & the weather was truly foul but we went out in the car chasing them....& it was the gamekeeper! Foxes he reckoned he was after, but all seemed a bit odd as it was on my ground so I gave him a bit of earache.

It's stayed dry here this a.m. Calm too, though that won't last.
Across the valley, the farmer who was recently fined £6k is busy burning something pretty smoky  and the plumes are going straight up!

As it was still so pleasant outside this a.m, I decided to do a bit of tree work in the willow grove, so I started cutting some of those leaning a bit too far. I also began tidying up the dogwoods, which have only ever been pruned by sheep! :o I've already made so much brash, I'll be having a burn up myself before long. :(

Took a walk up to Mr Dog's place and felled a buddleia that will be in the way when we do the fencing there. It's never ever been tidied, but it'll bounce back with a vengeance now. ;)

While I was there, I took a look over the hedge above the stream and got a shock. Mr Dog's son, while tidying-up the hedge bases with his digger last weekend, had obviously been instructed to clear the ditches too. So, he'd cleared the stream bank up there and widened the channel.:j This has opened it up for me to finish off the hedge tidying in the winter and made that job much easier on the last 50m or so. :D

Must get back to work.....BUT I've just I.D'd a plant I grew from seed some years ago. It was from one of those shrub mixes that Chiltern Seeds do.

I'm pleased. It's a Disanthus cercidifolius, it has an AGM and it's blooming expensive!:D

LIR... re your holly hedge out front ...or lack of it..:o is a 12ft length of box hedging any good ? its aprox 2ft high, 18" across. [could be more spaced but not much more as makes a nice tight clip]
im gonna have to move it before mr pratt kills it [if/when he turns up] i think as the ground is a swimming pool i should be able to shift it with minimal damage. it is clipped square. i did leave message on yr landline incase my tinternet was a no go :o
i can dig and shift in 48 hrs if any good. IF so you need to dig a trench ready...... just a thought
