Seems a bit strange that they severed the heads. Antlers don't sell for that much money - well not here they don't- all seems a bit strange & wasteful. They can't use the meat just now as it'll be rank as they are in rut & it really taints the meat.

A couple of years back there have been poachers here using cross bows & really wounding animals & leaving them - It's pretty disgusting & needs stopping. There's also rustling happening - sign of the times, but not a thing you'd expect here, but it does. I know someone who had dozens of ducks stolen before Xmas a few years back & she reckoned that was for meat.

It's not uncommon down here, unfortunately.
Remember The Emperor? The Exmoor stags tend to be larger than their Scottish counterparts - more food, I guess.
It was in October one year that we had the worst night of poaching (like WW3 with the rifle shots) we've ever known just down our lane.
I think most country folk can understand the odd "one for the pot" but wholesale slaughter (& mainly for the antlers) is altogether different.

    I've PM'd you.

think I am still trying to adjust to the clocks going back, as I have been wide awake for ages...unless its my body telling me to get my broomstick ready for tonight:D:rotfl:

Ebay doing well:T:T, but I am listing things, that I think people could use as crimbo pressies... putting them on BIN quite cheap too, so after fees, postage etc, I am making a buck or two..

Sorry Alex, didn't get back to your pm... I think I would have gone out to spain, even if it was just for the 2 weeks...

It was hubby's birthday yesterday.. and we celebrated in style...:D we drunk my Asti Spumante straight from the bottle, and chomped on the box of chocs Rozee and her family gave us....'class':p:rotfl:

right off to have some tea and toast..

I was awake before 6 too. I'm allergic to house dust mite and I'm all itchy. This caravan must be teeming with them now. There's so much dust from the building site. I got impetigo last month and the doc said its so common when people live longer term in caravan's. I'd never had anything like that before. The dust from the building site is never ending.

Had a bad day yesterday. We're really fed up now, but we're nearly there. Month 5 of the build is just finished and I'm having a meeting with our quantity surveyor I hope I've crunched the numbers right.

Rummer, I feel for you. I don't find pregnancy much fun and the twin pregnancy was awful. It's a means to an end.
  • now I was the opp. I loved being pregnant... even though both pregnancies were totally different...but now there is no way I would go through all that now, too old, and no way enough energy to bring up little ones....

Rozee you are on the final lap now with the bungalow... so hopefully it will not be long

We thought about it, especially as the flights out were already paid for, but we were in slight over-reaction mode and knew we wouldn't have enjoyed it even for that time, knowing what we should have been doing instead. And we'd have had to spend more money anyway - food out there, travel, entertainment and flights back.

What it's done in a positive way however, is made us get the roof problem (hopefully) sorted out. It was attempted by some guys back in February but didn't solve the problem, so we've now had some other chaps in and it's a case of wait and see. They said the bricks are absolutely saturated :( but they've checked all the lead flashing, repointed a lot of it especially round the chimney, and re-flaunched the chimney itself. IF this works, the rooms beneath should start drying out and it'll take maybe a fortnight. I think if it's dry in a month I'll be happy.

And we've also decided we need to do something else in our room to stop mould growing on the walls - it's because three out of four walls are external and it's purely down to condensation, and no insulation in the part of the roof above us because it's a funny shape and difficult to get at.

So, not going to Spain has enabled a couple of other things to happen :)

Rummer, I know it must be horrid, feeling rough (I get bored of inactivity too......that's how I found mse:D) but if it helps give you strength know that I'd love to be in your shoes. :). It will end and you'll have a new person to love at the end of it. :j

Gosh everybody has been so busy. We've had a bit of a hectic week, DS1 wrote his car off on Monday, he's ok. He purchased new car Monday night (bye bye all his shearing money) and collects it tonight.

We attended the AGM for the small business federation and they had a session on wine tasting, guess who wasn't driving.....

Going out tonight to watch Fascinating Aida, in the genre of Victoria Wood and if you fancy googling them I recommend the dogging song.....tis very funny.

Best get the chaps up as we've got the joys of the dentist.

Oh I am not in any way complaining about being pregnant  It was a long and emotional journey to get here and I am thankful every day that we have been so lucky to add to our family.

Sorry in my mind how I am feeling at the moment and my pregnancy are not connected. I was moaning about being unwell not about being pregnant. Although on reflection no one wants to hear grumbling so I shall stop.

Their chap flights one had us in peals of laughter the first time we saw it and it is a song I turn to when I need a bit of cheering up. Never seen the Ofsted one, they are three very funny ladies :D
