Hours and hours of sitting or lying down and I still feel like I am walking through treacle. However since you mention ceilings I have to admit I can now see all the wee patches on the living room ceiling that we missed when we painted two years agoTaking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
You will be tired. You'll need to conserve your energy.
This weather is quite tiring & the dark, long nights too. Our temp seems to have really dropped.
When are you due Rummer?0 -
I am due in February so quite a while to go.Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0

That'll be nice. Spring will be round the corner - the ground waking up.
Do you have much to buy or will people give you things?0 -
I think folks end up with a lot for tiny new borns - too much & then when they grow a little, but after that that's when you need stuff I suppose.0

We now have everything we need with regards to the essentials however we have not bought anything frivolous or fun. When we had our daughter we bought numerous things most of which we didn't need so this time we have been sensible and bought only what we know will be useful. Still cost a small fortune even getting things on sale/preloved/gifted.
It is saving for maternity leave that has been hard especially since we are on a such a tight budget anyway. Every minute at home with my baby will be precious.Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
It's good that you have stuff. It will be worth all the scrimping having time with your baby.
There's some really great 2nd hand stuff out there that looks hardly used & good quality stuff too.
It's hard scrimping all the time.
We found a really good kitchen sink just propped up against a skip. It is just an ordinary aluminium sink & drainer, but there's nowt wrong with it. I actually know where it came out of. It'll do the utility room. I really get a buzz out of finds like that.
I must go to bed as it's getting cold.
Night night - sleep tight - don't let the bed bugs zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz0 -
morning all:j:j
Its def getting colder..
Rummer, I think everyone is really feeling the squeeze now regardless of their situation etc..whether it be the general price of living going through the roof, or savings worth naff all, and its not going to change any time soon, the last boss of the bank of England said it would take at least 10 years to recover from 2008, so there is at least another 4 years to go, or did he mean it would take 10 years for us to get used to the price hikes and cut backs???
The thing is, its a catch 22, people are not spending because the cost of living, job cut backs etc, people are also buying secondhand, so no money going into the governments tax pot, etc. so the economy isn't growing. the figures that say the economy has grown by .02% are a load of tosh if you ask me... just government jiggling with figures to make themselves look good. And what we are spending on the high street st etc, the taxes and profits are mostly offshore.
opps SORRY going off on one....
Talking about cutting back, Its going to be bare basics this year... some nice food for Christmas day, and that is it... I must admit I am one of those who used to go over board on spoiling my boys, But this year, now that they are older, its going to be a very small budget, compared to previous years, so any suggestions on pressie ideas for a 19 and nearly 18 yr old boys???

It was quiet on here last night!
I have no news, except that the 'P' word was mentioned yesterday, but no read-throughs of the script for more than a month yet. This time it's Aladdin.
As you know, I sometimes put smallholding property in here. Today's has been puzzling me, as it's not sold all summer.
OK it's semi-detached and there's a blooming great factory very close by, but these are the sort of compromises one often has to make.
On the face of it there's solar panels, heat pump, German kitchen and decent enough decor, while outside there's a stable yard and manege, all decent enough too. Why's it still hanging about?
The only clue I can find is that there used to be a mill leat running right through the land, which wasn't part of the title plan, and now seems to be filled-in. Could it be that someone else owns this strip across the fields?

As a further matter of not much interest, if you go on the satellite view and head north, you'll arrive at Glenvale Nursery, which is a rural garden centre. DW and I looked at it, way back in 2007, but we didn't want a 7 day a week business with everything bought-in.
At that time, it had no mains water, just a stream, and the lower part by the road sometimes flooded. We thought there might be the chance of an ag-tied house at the top of the plot, where it was a bit gloomy and there was just about enough room, but the whole package just didn't appeal.
We were right, because there is a house there now.0
