I love the idea of square foot gardening Alexelisey. :AThank you for the detailed description - I 'get it' now. Sounds as if would be ideal for me and Mr BD wouldn't find it too overwhelming too (he is a city boy and not a natural gardener)

alfie 1 thanks for your thoughts on the doer upper  it is always handy to have other ideas. I quite like the idea of the back facing SW - although with that big tree it might be a moot point esp if the tree has a TPO.

Have sent an email to EA this morning pointing out that we are not willing to pay the rent/mortgage and running costs for 2 houses for 8 weeks which would be what would happen if we complete when they want to - it would leave us well over £1,000 out of pocket which is not to be sniffed at.

Next week is going to be interesting
It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.

When Alfie gets back from Wales it will tickle her pink to know we finally have to repair the thing we use to change light bulbs.
  • Just finished watching it:T:T:T
I LOVE their house, and that's what I want my kitchen to look like.. basic and rustic...

I will watch it tonight when my connection may be faster....or not.:(

Right now I should be strimming the graveyard, but every time I get ready to go out it rains!

Meanwhile, across the valley, Mr Dog's son is tidying the hedge bases with his digger for my organic neighbour. I think this is how he clears his nettles, brambles etc when they start to invade the field edges. He must've removed the electric sheep fencing.

The question is, will Mr Dog Jnr also come and tidy the edge of the stream too? I would love to think he will, but I'll have a quiet bet with myself that he won't! ;)
  • For those that don't know, on Wednesdays at the moment Backwoods Home magazine are releasing a free back issue available for Kindle. Amazon UK have had them, this week's was from from 2008 if I remember correctly. It's an American mag but has some stuff relevant to daydreamers. They are definitely free - just search on Backwoods Home and order by lowest price (Wednesdays are the only days anything will show as free, one a week).

Thanks Dave! Love the primrose bathroom suite! :rotfl: Garden looks rather like the one here looked when we completed! Apart from the lawn, which had been mown fairly regularly. Hope that the past subsidence doesn't hinder getting a mortgage!

What will be, will be! Personally, I think they'd get better value in the area where the BL car plant used to be, but DD has to be close to work, as she can be called in suddenly at antisocial times.

Speaking of anti-social, I've come to expect dog poo when strimming on the verges, but in the churchyard????:eek:
Finally got there this afternoon, only to get a face full once and a near miss half an hour later.:mad::mad: I thought God might be looking out for me, but no. Watching the rugby I expect! :(
