My 'study' faces south so foliage plants keel over in the summer, but I've now moved plants in to get the most light over the long Scottish winter and keep them out of draughts :(

The fern on the right was "fried" in a hot window in July and was shorn back to nothing, it's bounced back quite well! The big sentry palm I picked up for £1 when B&Q had that great sell off in late summer. :D No new fronds on it yet, but then again no sign of die back.

  • up the ranch now, and our dongle works here:T:T:T

weather is really pants, nothing we can do at mo with the 'boglins' run, and its flipping typical all the mud/swamp is right by the entrance gate... think we will have do some drainage work, when the run is on a rest from piggies, but in our defence we wouldn't have known this would happen, Plus they don't hardly use the top part of the run now:mad:.

hope everyone has been battening down the hatches for tomorrow's storm

Still looks as if we are going to avoid the worst and I hope that is true. Hopefully people have taken the warnings seriously and are prepared at least for a bit of disruption. My family at least listen to me now in relation to having bits and pieces in and knowing where the candles etc are.

I did have to chuckle to myself recently when we were having a clear out as I must buy a bag of tea lights every time we visit Ikea and we now have hundreds and hundreds of them :D

Still unwell and sleeping most of the day, not getting any benefit from the sleeping though. Plus being around the house just makes me notice more and more things that need to be done  I think tomorrow I will go through the seed tin :D

When Alfie gets back from Wales it will tickle her pink to know we finally have to repair the thing we use to change light bulbs.

do you have a dog ? i ask because that is a good way of getting out and meeting people ... it also gives you the umpf to GO out in the first place. exercise and fresh air. plus company. i know maybe difficult with new baby but have you thought of walking other peoples dogs ? get paid, have fun but not the major responsibility.
then again you may not like dogs....:o :D

We don't have a dog as we are both working and felt it would be unfair to have a dog at home for most of the day alone and my hubby was against paying a dog walker. After rumlet arrives hubby will be in the house most days so we have recently considered getting a dog.

In fact we were talking about it this evening and pondering when would be the right time to get a dog. Originally we were going to go for a rescue however since we are going back to having a baby/toddler in the house I think we will go for a puppy, now we just need to decided when and which breed.

Both of us have experience with dogs, me more than OH however we will need a dog that is child and small animal friendly.

Speaking of anti-social, I've come to expect dog poo when strimming on the verges, but in the churchyard????:eek:
Finally got there this afternoon, only to get a face full once and a near miss half an hour later.:mad::mad: I thought God might be looking out for me, but no. Watching the rugby I expect! :(

You need one of those full face masks like my dentist wears! OK, it doesn't cover your hair or clothes, but at least it'd stop the s**t getting all over yer face.

God will look after you in more important ways.:) You have to remember He Moves in Mysterious Ways - at least according to the hymn! :D

A bit over 2 years ago I started off some Brugmansia suavolens seeds... One of the ones that germinated got planted in a big pot, and we put it outside this year while we were away at the caravan. Some of the leaves got eaten (heaven knows what would eat it in this country - it's severely poisonous!) but OH dragged it into the porch soon after we got home from Wales, as gale forecast... Well, 3 big fat buds have appeared, and the first one is now beginning to unfurl and open up - makes it exciting going into the porch each day as we're always wondering if the first flower will have opened up yet!

It is reputed to be a night scented plant, in its home it's pollinated by moths. And I wanted to grow it as a scented plant - OH just loves scented plants, as did his lovely Dad. I'll let you know if it does have a perfume - grown tuberose the last few years (flowered last year and this year) which were a bit disappointing in the scent stakes - at least to me!
