Wrong. Curry 3 nights in a row! :o:o:o ....But, not the same type of curry. That would be unimaginative. :D

The chips were a test. I was last in that F&C shop in 1968, so I wanted to check if it was still up to scratch. :p

One of the things I bought in the supermarket was a tub of 'living lettuce.' I've been meaning to do that for a while, as the plants look as if they'd transplant easily enough. We are coming to the end of our older plants, and the winter lettuce is still rather small, so these might make a decent stop-gap. :)

:rotfl::rotfl: oh well dave ...if you bought lettuce that excuses you...;).:rotfl::rotfl:

i went to fetch LIR's carpet today as the workmen were there and could carry it for me.
id reversed the trailer up and had a big long blue strap thing [one of those 2 part wratchet things]
carpet on trailer and i was flinging the blue strap over to a workman and then i asked " how much have you got"..
he replied "only what ive got in my hand, its not much"
i fell about laughing as did a trio of workman on a balcony bit whod been watching...

TBH Alfie.. I am now getting frustrated and a tad embaressed with the progress of the ranch, as it will be 2 years in march we won it at Auction.. I know a lot of crap has happened to us in that time.. with work, etc.. so our time and energy has had to go elsewhere, plus last year the weather was just crap.. so basically we need to work our little butts off to get some sort of extra money in... Its hard, infact FXXXXXX bloody hard, as we all know normal living costs are just going up and up, so a lot of the little extra we get/save in actually being make ends meet.

I know this might sound strange, but I feel the ranch doesn't belong to us, I have become dis attached to it again.. Prob because we are not living there... Maybe next year should be the year to make up our minds on what to do with this place, and move up the ranch once and for all, even if it means buying another caravan:D ( that will be 3 then:cool:) to live in while we try and crack on with the house. pitty the lane is way too narrow to get a static down there...

:j I may have hot running water in my bathroom by the end of today :j

It is amazing how much joy a bathroom can bring me :D

If the rain holds off today we might get the hedge cut on the pavement side as it is verging on unruly. However I just don't want to :rotfl:

Don't beat yourself up over the progress you've made in 2 years; we've been here more than 4, and nothing's been done to the house yet. :o

It's important to be attached to the land, though, as we know from the days when Mr Dog was giving us so much grief. That was something from outside that affected us, but if your dis-attachment comes from inside yourself, by being off-site, then a caravan, even just for weekends and summer, seems the way to go. :)

CTC try not to focus too much on the things you haven't done and think about what you have! In the last two years you have bought your own small holding while keeping your own home, dealt with challenging personal and financial circumstances all while running your own business and family.

At the small holding you have built pig homes and successfully raised piglets as well as clearing space, growing veggies and now personally preparing the house for further building works! That is a lot of progress! Every day is a step closer to living there.

When I bought our home I had a bit of a Grand Designs period when I thought that the house would be all perfect within a few months and then I realised just how expensive, time consuming and challenging creating a home can be and ours was in liveable condition when we bought it ;)

6 years later we are just getting the bathroom done and the kitchen is a life time away but I get a real sense of pleasure from every little step towards completion :D

CTC.... ive SEEN the difference !! you have in my opinion done brilliantly. i think you will appreciate it more when it is done [or if like this place is an ongoing project!].
"you dont get ought for nought"
is it worth aproaching the supermarket to see if they are interested in a house purchase ? i bet they have had thier eye on that row...

much as we love our kids they have to grow up sometime and accept parental decisions. my lad was 17 when i moved here ,at college, and we lived on matresses on the floor , no bathroom, no power, no gas for 4 months. he wasnt chuffed but thats what we had to do...hasnt killed him......;)

i have an airport pick up later, fetching big dog after that [1 weeks stay] then i have to list list list....

off to LIR tomorow with my "no officer, thats not a dangerous load trailer" ....:D :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

CTC, what we have done isn't really visible from the front apart from one little bit. I read your posts and feel shamed by the fencing and stuff, as those things really show, and I'd love to be able to get more of that done. We're a year on from you and only sorted out a few metres of road side fencing this year....nothing else visible from the front at all.

I read about daves Yorkshire boarding and squirm and feel ashamed we cannot do that too.

It frustrates me that progress in some areas is slow......there is so damn much to do and I'm so incapable of doing it. Little repairs especially worry me and nag on my mind. We have steel frames which are rusting and need painting and then concreting at the bottom, and we know what to do we just don't have long enough to get to it usually. :(. And the same with the dairy.....there are holes we need to fill badly.....

There are ALWAYS things to do tbh, always. And the routine things take all the time up!
