dave.......my "plume" was as good as that....;)
better days..... at least you are waiting for a PLUMMER... im waiting for a PRAT...:(
i spoke to prat aND he assured me there is [when asked the odds] a 90% chance he will be here monday.
had call after [ well message]from land agent saying he would be here middle of next week onwards....
SO GOOD JOB I DONT BET.....
i am so P'd off. ive contacted the water people and theyve told me that the agent/landlord is obliged to fix any mains water leaks within a set period of time . so i will use that ammo
what worries me is if a fraction of it can get into the pipes leading to the cess pit,[filled a 1000gallon ] then how much is under the house ? i have hollow wooden floors and the water board bods told me an excess apart from the wood getting rotten ,it can cause some fungi spores thing which can affect health.:o
the estate can be heavily fined if they dont act............
anyway, i took black lab to vets, she has a throat infection... her chest [heart/lungs] are fine so is on penicillan.
im fed up with unwanted worries/expenses...:( not that i begrudge my "baby"'s bill....:D

Hi all,
you are partly right Davesnave don't know my @rse from my elbow at mow.. got soo much work at mo, we are struggling to get on top of it..
We had a vintage event which went really well, then we had a biker wedding, with party back at their club house, then we had sad news that a very close biker friends nephew ( which they brought up) had died, he was only 21, he had battled with cancer... soooo as Alfie said we were trying to get hubby's bike back on the road, but it was cheaper to buy another bike... soooo I have just blown my savings. BUT Hubby has got his twinkle back in his eyes again.. ( as he did miss his bike, you could see it, even though he never said anything) ..
Anyway the funeral is on Monday... it will be a very sad day..
Apart from that, and being totally knackered, everything is fine:D
weather is def getting colder, and you can see the leaves on the trees starting to changeWork to live= not live to work0 -
CTC Glad to see you posting, you have been missed. Sorry to hear about your loss, I am sure it will be a great comfort to his family to have so many of you there paying your respects. Sounds as if it was worth every penny of your savings to get your hubbies sparkle back.
LIR So excited to hear about your pond plans, I love mine and will miss it when we fill it in, although we can always make a [STRIKE]level [/STRIKE]better one in the futureHow is the horse hunt going?
Dave I wish our dump had a resale area, ours is just a dump and you get into trouble if you try to fish decent items back out
Alfie  how infuriating your situation is at the moment! I can also empathise with the endless un-forseen expenses. We recently had a few things come up which have really set us back.
Better Days Glad to hear things are progressing, keep us up dated on how it is all going.
Itisme Any news after your meeting this/last week?
Choille Hows the weather where you are? It is wild here.
As for me well I am doing ok. Rumlet is progressing fine and I am slowly but surely getting things in order. I would still love the cleaning and decorating fairy to pay a visit but sadly they have been otherwise engaged :rotfl:
I am working extra hours to try and balance out the afore mentioned expenses and my grand garden plans have stalled again (no surprise really :rotfl:) and I had been hoping to get out there this weekend but it is cold and pouring with rain here so that looks unlikely.
We are still debating the sleeping arrangements for when Rumlet arrives and I think I might try to find out the cost of a loft extension as a few properties around here have had them recently and it would solve our space problems. Mind you it will be way out of price range no matter how cheap it isTaking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
Sorry to hear your news CTC. Hope everything goes as well as can be expected.
Been on holibobs to Skye, done lots of fishing and came home with masses of Mackerel and Pollock, any recipes appreciated. Went up in convoy as DS1 decided to drive, that went ok despite me worrying. Saw porpoises (sp?) and the chaps saw basking sharks when they went out without us. Went swimming in the fairy pools, very cold (bl00dy freezing) and had a relaxing week.
Back to the grindstone now. Had a bit of a bombshell dropped on us when we returned as the chap who looks after the workshop/shop said he wouldn't do it for a whole week as it was too stressful. I know its a whole 12 months away before we do take any time off but we need to start to get things in place. Hopefully we have a cunning plan.
I think I've made a decision regarding my hens. When they have all dropped off the perch I'm not going to replace them. I have 3 veg beds which I can't use as the hens aren't confined to a pen. So when they've all gone i'll sell the hut and replace with a greenhouse. Now the chaps are older there's less risk of a football being booted into it.
DS1 is busy making his sheep look pretty for the big sheep sale that's coming up. DD1 has started sixth form, she did ok in her GCSEs but I think she was hoping for higher grades in some subjects. She did have a meltdown and 2 days before she started back completely change her mind on the subjects she wanted to do. She's job hunting as well but there isn't anything out there.
DS2 has been a big help in the workshop over the summer and I think OH has missed him this week.
DD2 has started high school and apart from her very expensive Clarks shoes giving her blisters has settled in ok.
I'm back to trying to keep all balls bouncing.....

Forgot to mention that I did buy a lovely sheepskin rug from Skye Skyns that will be the colour palette for the living room, which is our next project and hopefully before Christmas.Total Debt Dec 07 £59875.83 Overdrafts £2900,New Debt Figure ZERO !!!!!!:j 08/06/2013

Guess who was stuck in the traffic jam on the M25 last night due to the security alert... I work right next to the bridge, I left at normal time of 4.30pm, I come onto the M25 at junction 31 as always because I have no choice, 5 minutes later that's it. Stuck. Eventually at 10.15 I get to the other end of the bridge only to be given the choices of turn round and go back to Essex to find another route, or park up and wait on the bridge. Well I went back to Essex but went to my best friend's house to get a meal and a bed for the night. 10 miles of tailback at Blackwall southbound, on top of a crap day at work and 6 hours of jam. Sod that! So I stayed with my friend for the night and came home this morning.
I am soooo tired. But there was a lovely rainbow on my way home!"...And if it don't feel good, what are you doing it for?" - Robbie Williams - 'Candy'0 -
I had no idea about the security alert Alex, but here's a link to it for others (absent friends - where is everyone?)

Not much fun, anyway.
I remember, we bought our previous car near Dartford on the day before the 7/7 bombings. Took us ages to get home, but dread to think how long it would have taken less than 24 hours later.
We have a police hen. Minnie, our surviving Australorp, doesn't like arguments. Today a Vorwerk and Welsummer were having a bit of a ding-dong when along comes Minnie and breaks it up, chasing off the Vorwerk and then giving the Welsummer a quick peck as well. We have seen her do this before. Normally peaceable, she soon sorts out these domestics.
I forgot to mention that we took a sheet off re-roofed wood barn 2 yesterday, cut it to the odd shape it needed to be and stuck it back as the black clouds formed. Then we shifted the entire pile of branches from last winter's hedging inside. Took over an hour. We finished just as the first of the rain arrived.0 -
Bit of luxury here
Sun shining, looking out of feature windows at R Tweed's 3 bridges while DW gets to grip with the Aga. Super & huge place on the Quay Walls, very quiet apart from the seagulls.
Had a mare of a journey up, heavy rain and lots of lorries making for dangerous and unpleasant conditions. B&Bd at Wooler, auction and fair on Saturday, then made it here a bit pooped.
Loving this place, not sure we'll want to leave nx week0 -
Did you have anything nice in the auction Rhiwie? sounds a fab place,
been raining here on times, but its not as bad as I thought.
You can tell Auntumn is coming,:o its a lot colder in the nights, the leaves on the trees are def changing..
Really do need to start splitting more logs, typical, I have been telling hubby over the last month or so we need to start getting our wood ready for winter, and things go awol in work..
some of my friends on [EMAIL="f@cebooook"]f@cebooook[/EMAIL] have lite their fires, and put their central heating on all ready:eek::eek::eek:. We allways try and hang out as long as we can, as once you light the fire that's it,Work to live= not live to work0 -
Brrr is is freezing today  just up
and I have popped the fire on for a few minutes to take the chill off the air and I am snuggled under a blanket on the couch.
CTC I agree we try to hold off putting the heating on for as long as possible to keep our costs down so I refuse to put it on before Oct at the earliest. We are doing what we can to cut down our energy use in general and have managed a 5% reduction from last year. Not in money sadly but in usage. My gran (90 years old) just gave us her mothers  clothes dryer so we can hopefully cut down our tumble dryer use even more. The pulley is good however in the winter our kitchen has no heat so the clothes take forever to dry.
Today I am going to do a bit more in the garden, OH did a bit yesterday but due tot he often rainy wknds we have not got as much done as we hoped. Ah well there is always next year :rotfl:
To get a closer grip on finances I am going to make up a spread sheet today to work out what pennies I can save for maternity leave and what things we still need to acquire, which is not much mercifullyWhat I would really like to do however is go out for lunch, have a massive slab of cake and coffee to follow and then go shopping for pretty things :rotfl:

We had a duck that used to be exactly the same. She'd run in between hens & even cockerels acting like a referee in a boxing match. I even saw her physically lift & toss one particularly belligerent hen out of 'the ring'.
Poor old gal lived a long life but she knew when her time was coming. One sunny afternoon I was outside in a deckchair & she decided she wanted to sit on my lap - unusual. She nestled down, turned her head to look up at me, made herself comfy & 5 minutes later she died.0
