I'm going to have the digger guy dig a hole like a well near where the well was.....about a metre and a half round I guess?

Good luck at the vets and with your dad.

Nope, I won't make the water lilies homeless!

I'm going to stick with the circle, I think I can do it with that plastic liner.....

I have never made a pond:o. I helped my dad do one when I was little, and then watched as they spent a fortune on one.

Ponds, like everything else, seem to have got very technical these days. The main thing I think is that filter bit, isn't it ? So we don't kill any fish we throw in?

I feel all inspired ATM, a few good days and I think I can do anything :D

im assuming it will slope into the middle ? otherwise liner will be a pig and u will end up with more folds than an umbrella..:D

allowing for slope ,you wont get much depth at those widths. main thing for fish is at least 18"-2ft depth to avoid em becoming decorative ice cubes in winter....:rotfl:

usually it shelves to a deep centre.

a pump to circulate/ariate water is ok. a filter box is ok if going for koi but not necesary for goldfish. you can but really not essential.
my pond stays clear as a bell with nothing...no pump,no filter. but its a bit bigger than yours...;) :rotfl::rotfl:

do i sound a party pooper ?

    go BIG gal....:rotfl:

    I could go two metres?

No koi, absolutely no koi! Do you have fish in you clear pond? I was told I HAD to have a filter for gold fish....

I would buy a round infil, if I could find one......could be REALLY deep. I wasn't going to do a shelf for frogs ( mean me ) but put something for them to climb up instead...and then put a grill over the top so babies don't drown. ( not doing walls)

If you Google pre-formed ponds, you find stuff like this:

    http://www.ponds4fish.co.uk/shop/preformed-rigid-ponds/

    Not cheap!

I built a pond about 5' x 3' at our old place, which had almost vertical sides and a bit at one end for plants/creatures to climb in/out. It was pretty deep, and as alfie says, the folds in the butyl liner were horrendous, but once it was all set up those weren't seen. I had a very cunning arrangement to hide the edges.

So far as I know, it's still there 10 years on. The butyl was supposed to be OK for 50 years. :)

If you are building a pond remember to use a SPIRIT LEVEL, I may have forgotten :o and ended up with a pond that is deep at one end and shallow at the other :rotfl::rotfl:
