Not too bad a result at the show last night, with 3 firsts for peppers, onions and a hosta in a coal scuttle, which was also best in section. Last year it would have been in shreds by now! :rotfl:

The onions were funny, being some I ferreted out of a bargain bin for 50p, so already growing away when purchased. 'Fraid I did nothing to them, other than weed. :o

The peppers....well, we had about 45 plants to choose from.....

It was a higher standard of show than we've entered before, and there were no disqualifications this time, though DW was told off for not removing buds on her 3 dahlias in a vase. Huh! If we could just dead head the ones we have out there in the garden.....

It's threatening to be nice here today, but we've a car to be fixed, so no gallivanting. I feel there are still so many places we ought to have visited by now including an intriguing local garden/nursery that doesn't seem to advertise at all.

LIR... i can get carpet but can you give me a rough idea of sizes ? reason being her bedroom carpet is about 25ft x 20ft and dressing room about 20ft x 15ft . these are the "best" carpets and if you can use both then i will get them to remove whole if that makes sense. there is stair carpet but it has the odd mark [small] ? they are wool and thick/soft. caramel color [light]. do you need underlay ??

right im off, hectic week this week which i dont feel like....
mass of appointments next week... dentist, hand, airport runs, farrier, work.........

sun out here, ground is rock hard as still no rain..all the rhodis in the woods are wilting and yellowing including trees losing leaves and looking dodgy...
  • We noticed yesterday the distinct lack of blackberries this year. Is it like that everywhere?
Ours are all still at the tiny, green, hard as a rock stage so they're unlikely to do anything at all now.
    The elderberries are behind, too.

    I've been Money Tipped!
    Our blackberries are good.

Fie, will get you measurements, in fact, I'll email you the house details. I'll do as much as I can with it. I'd love to do my stairs (I was going to rip my stair carpet up and paint the stair case as I don't think I can take the smell of Tom cat in winter again!) We didn't have underlay under the carpets we have taken up already. I'd love to do my sitting room and the study and could do my bedroom with that much if I did a join in the middle (there are joins now) in the oxblood red monstrosity!

Plenty of ripe blackberries noted and consumed yesterday on my walk. :D

No walk today. The mechanic I saw got his wires crossed and gave me a courtesy car, which was OK, but by the time I arrived home again, it was time to go back and pick up the car....:rotfl:
  • Well, the blackberry thing is odd then. We still have loads of flowers on the brambles but, as I said, very few have gone on to make the berries.
We went shopping today in Barney & I noted it was the same all the way along the route.

I am baking a ham and just about to go and pull some potatoes out the garden to go with it :D I love walking into the garden and finding things to eat.

    :o No.
    So I googled it. :)
Do you mean Under the Dome - the Stephen King story?
Yep. Sounds like round here. :rotfl:
We came back in glorious, warm sunshine today but as we got closer to home we could see this low, thick cloud. Yea, you're right. It was sat right over our hill. It did lift, though

My pots of flowers make me smile every time I look at them :D I really want to spend more time in the garden, now if only life would stop getting in the way!
