I swear , I don't aim to have expensive taste.
I love these glass sphere water features. Would swap gold fish for a crystal ball.

Too early and awake half the night
Ah well, off to Soddin Flodden , not quite Choille territory but it looks a long long drive north .
Leaving the garden in a mess which wont be any better when we get back. The fruit trees are laden and I found a huge marrow hiding under the courgette leaves. Asked DD1 to keep cropping the beans and raspberries and help herself to apples, they'll be plenty to go round.
DS2 guarding the house with the help of friends!0 -

Have good trip, though I think sodden might not be inaccurate.
Down my way, I read that a farmer has just been fined £6k after the EA investigated dumping and burning of waste on his land. I have no sympathy after the all the exhumations at this place earlier on.
Yesterday, however, I discovered the first bit of 'resistance' when unloading the van at Barney's [STRIKE]tip[/STRIKE] recycling facility. I was questioned as to whether I was a commercial enterprise and from whence I came.
I replied that I was from Pete's area, as I'm actually out of 'their' district by half a mile. That was lucky, because the guy was originally from round here. He informed me it was exactly 17 miles I'd travelled. "Not today," I replied, "they've closed the A377 at Kingford, I had to go via Chittlehamholt."
"Oh b*gger," he says, rapidly re-calculating, "That's 25miles. Wouldn't you have been better off going to Crediton?" (I thought he'd make a passable substitute for a sat-nav.:rotfl:)
"Can't," I said, "not my council.":o:o:o
I think I passed, but I was told if I came back again in the van, I might have to fill in a form. At that point I gave him a couple of treasures for his 'shop' area, so he'd remember me better.
Still, that's all the scrap Onduline out of the way.......
Where's CTC? Not like her to go awol. Hope it just means she's minting it currently.0 -
LIR - I can't help with the best place/price for pond-liners as we haven't used them but, as long as the liner is large enough to cover the whole pond, it really doesn't matter too much about folds.
It is normal to put shelves in around the edge but you can stand pots on things like breeze blocks to get the plants to the right height. The only thing to bear in mind is wind or water movement which may topple them.
Rummer is right. Make sure you get the levels right.
Will it be fed naturally or will it be a pond which you'll have to top up?
If a) then will it be totally clean water or might it end up as a run-off during bad weather & mud find its' way in to the water?
If that's a possibility then you'll need a way to be able to clean the pond out every now & then.
We haven't bothered with fish since we lived here - although we did inherit the previous owners' rather pathetic attempt at keeping trout :rotfl: - but, from what I've heard I think alfie is correct. Not all forms of goldfish require 'posh'. I know people who have put fairground goldfish into ponds & they've lived quite happily. The fact that a fairground goldfish survived at all is fairly remarkable in my books :rotfl:0 -
