OK guys a question for you. If you were happy in your job, but there was very little chance of you ever moving on or getting a higher salary and you were offered a job with good prospects and a double figure payrise would you take it even if you weren't sure it was the right job for you?You laugh because I'm different - I laugh because you're all the same0 -
:hello: Hello!
Just got back in from seeing the dentist in london, had a very thorough check of my jaws and x-rays and it looks unlikely that I will be a good candidate for implants:sad: , possibly at the top but not at the bottom of mouth. So it will be bridgework and dentures for me, will know more when I get to see my own dentist next week. Just hope to get it all started soon.
At least I got to see dd as she met me at Liverpool st station and came with me on the underground and saw me to the door. I am very lucky to have such a caring dd. Also a lovely girl on the underground train gave up her seat for me as I looked a bit unsteady by then hanging onto a stick and dd in rush hour! Thank you whoever you are it was much appreciated :A
I did get to hobble over to HMV as the Oxford Street branch is huge and has a wide range off dvds so a couple of pressies have now been sorted. Then I gave in and came home, now in bed resting. Dinner tonight is tuna casserole, already made and sitting in fridge ready to be reheated.
Stefejb - hope your dd is better soon (((hugs)))

Tink,
Do you want to get a promotion or have a higher salary? If not, stay where you are.
However, if you want a challenge, and want to see rewards for your hard work, then go for the new job.

ByeeeeeeeeDon't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0 -
The garage said that it was losing power because damp had got inside the plugs but now that they've dried out it should be fine. It was absolutely pouring down on the motorway when it happened - but does it mean I can't drive my car in the rain? I'm confused!!
I had asked them to check the brake pads coz there was a rubbing noise when I braked and I know the wiper needed doing and they said my 2 front tyres were bald as well.JUST DO IT ONE BRICK AT A TIMEPROUD TO BE DEALING WITH MY DEBTSWeekly Budget: groceries£50/petrol£50/Unnecesary£15DEBT PAID = 58% (£4,212/£8216):T0 -
Hi everyone!
Hope you all had a good weekend and that the lovely weather didn't scupper your plans too badly. Sadly the weather prevented me from seeing to the garden [:D not a favourite!] but it didn't prevent me from buying some annuals and a pincushion flower. Will put them in when we have a dry evening this week.
All in all a very good and productive OS weekend. Got my weetabix cakes done and some of thriftlady's yummy seeds in there aswell. The small person's cake is also now in the freezer ready to be decorated for his special day tomorrow. 9.... where's all that time gone!!! Was dead chuffed because the Dennis the Menace door sign I made him worked a treat and OH found time to make him a birthday card aswell. We've also bought him some bits....Mecanno [now is that for him or for his Father one wonders:rotfl: :rotfl: ] His birthday treat is a trip on the London Eye on Saturday [that'll be OH and him as I'm not so hot on heights!!]
OS today has been bathroom cleaning and ironing when I get home. Woo hoo!! Sardine burgers for tea!

Jet, I don't claim to be any kind of expert but how did the damp get in the plugs? I know it was torrential rain, but the plugs should be watertight. Have they offered any kind of explanation or are they just guessing that was the problem? I'm probably wrong (well hope so!) but it sounds just a wee bit dodgy to me
CMx
Aril, think again about the London Eye. I'm not great with heights but it doesn't feel like normal heights, and the views are wonderful! You never get a second chance to make a first impression.0 -
Unplanned working from home day today, the manager of the site I was going to see today has taken the day off to go to hospital with her mum. Poor lady was told she had cancer last week, and the whole family are devastated.
I'm going to crack on with some ironing in a bit (lunch break) and put another load of washing in. The sun's out now, so that along with the wind we always have should get it dry in no time.
Aril - another vote for the London eye - I'm not a huge fan of heights, but that was great.
Jet - can you ring round another couple of garages for tyre quotes? Also get them to show you the baldness of the tyres. We had the same thing a couple of years ago for our car to pass it's MOT. OH asked the mechanic to show us that the tread depth was illegal - poor guy tried EVERY spot on the tyre for about 15 minutes trying desperately to find a bit below the legal limitIt was only just legal, but legal all the same. We did replace the tyre a few days later, but at another, much cheaper garage.
Hugs to everyone else, I'm off to cobble together a coloured load for the WM0 -

LOL - I was thinking of saying I was asking for a friend but then I guess I'm transparent enough :rotfl:
I think the problem is I love it where I am and I love the people I work with and I love the work I do but I will never be able to move on or get any more money. Where as the job I've been offered is for a very large company with lots of prospects and a great salary but it will also bring a huge amount of stress etc. I think it comes down to that old money v happiness arguement and I just haven't got a clue what to do.You laugh because I'm different - I laugh because you're all the same0
