OS Daily Tuesday 29th May 07

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for today. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Good morning everyone,

Late start today. I am not at work until 1300, so I can have a leisurely breakfast in the sunshine. I don't expect anyone else will get out of bed much before 9 anyway.

Bank holiday was a little dull, I worked, the rest of the family went to relatives for the day, so not much in the way of excitement.

Hope you all have a good day....

Hi N9EAV - Good Morning to you and all who follow and (((hugs))) to everyone who needs or wants one.

Hope everyone had a good night’s sleep!

The weather looks really promising today after that miserable wet weekend! I hope it warms up – I’ve been freezing for the last couple of days and we have even put the heating on now and then!
Well, countdown well and truly on now! Leave on tonight’s ferry – had booked the ticket online which we’ve done several times before but, yesterday, I realised that the ticket hadn’t been emailed to me to download. A quick call to Britanny Ferries and it was emailed straightaway. The document wallet is stuffed full now with all our travel documents plus the info for the hotel we’ll be staying in for DS1’s wedding – I really can’t wait now!
Have managed to get loads ticked off the list except the clothes-packing but will do that later. Going to give the house a good clean and bag up the HM soups I have been making in the SC with all the leftover veg. I’ve been freezing all the things I would normally have thrown out before going away and the freezer is really well-stocked now. My new challenge, which I will start as soon as we come back home, is to do enough OS shopping and cooking, etc., so that at least one week a month is ‘living out of the freezer’ week. I’ve been so inspired by everything I have learned here and all the lovely recipes and moneysaving tips.
We’ll be on the night ferry and, as we don’t like the claustrophobic cabins, we will hopefully be able to sleep in one of the reclining lounges; if I can’t sleep properly, I’ve packed plenty of books and my wonderful lightwedge – https://www.lightwedge.com – which means I can read without disturbing anyone else and I will keep my lavender oil in my bag!
I managed to list a few items on eBay to start a couple of days before we come home. I also need to pack some of my cardmaking stuff. I have run out of time now and I want to make DS1 and DIL2B a wedding card so I’ll have to make it in France!
DH is doing all the running about today, getting euros and emptying our money jar into the local Coinstar machine. I’ve never used it because it makes such a racket and EVERYONE stops what they are doing and looks at whoever is using it. DH doesn’t care about things like that so he’s going down there with about £30 worth of coins! I don’t think I’d be able to carry it all anyway – that’s my excuse.

I have a couple of letters I need to write; I’m still waiting on Lloyds TSB to settle on DH’s business account and they should have submitted their counter-schedule by last Friday; we phoned the Court and they told us to write to them if we hadn’t heard anything by today. We had a letter on Saturday from their solicitor saying that the bank were ‘still undertaking their review’ (which means that someone there forgot about the deadline!) and we’ll phone the Court while we’re away every so often – it would be great to find they have settled while we’re away!
Anyway, must go and kick DH out of bed so I can change the sheets and get them on the line, have a shower and get cracking!
Will call in later and see how you all are!

    Gosh, its quiet today!!!

Hello N(eav and all who follow.

Back to work for me today - and will be a busy one!!! Have 2 LOs, and 3 BOs here (plus my own 2). Its not as busy the rest of the week, and they should all get along (although not sure how new LO will cope with all the BOs here, im hoping he will like them, and maybe they will play with him for a bit so i can do some bits!!!)

Would like to do some baking today, as we are really running low on cakes and biscuits, but didnt get chance to go to Tescos yesterday, so not sure if i have everything i need - will see later.

So, not much else planned today, had a lovely day yesterday, even tho i did spend too much, as i treated my 2 and DSs friend to fish and chips - it doesnt happen often so i dont feel to guilty!

Right, off to get some things done before they all desend on me,
Hope everyone has a lovely day,
    Take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

    Morning Everyone

Not the best of Bank Holiday weekends for me. Found out on Sunday that a friend of mine who I met in Florida died very suddenly on Saturday night. He was only in his early 40's. No reason has yet been established. It's very sad news and has hit bf bad. So I'll have to see if I can get time off to fly to West Virginia for the funeral

Started my new "second job" on Saturday night. Did the stadium announcing at the speedway and earned some nice extra money. Must have gone well as they've asked me to do it again. Got two more dates this season.

Hoping to do some extra work next Tuesday with my friend to get some extra cash.

Sitting down with bf later to have a serious discussion about moving abroad. I'm going to explain exactly how I feel and want him to do the same in reply. I love him dearly, but he won't even hold my hand or hug me, so I need to know he's serious about me before I give up everything for him and move to the other side of the world

Hope everyone had a good bank holiday and managed to keep warm

Hi N9eav & all to follow, whats happened to all our insomniacs?
Nothing exciting happening here yet, I'm waiting for my local bank to open, when it does, listen carefully for loud screams as I am going to make yet another complaint about their service!! It won't be me screaming I talk very quietly & calmly when I'm annoyed, but have been known to reduce people to tears especially as I know who made this particular mistake. I'll report back later & let you know how I get on.
Apart from that I need to crack on with some dressmaking alterations as hubby & I are going to a wedding on Saturday, I have a nice dress I was given but it's 2 sizes too big, so I need to alter it & try to make a shrug or jacket to go with it, whatever I can make out of the bottom of the dress as it is floor length & I'm taking it to knee length. I'll report back on that too.
I also have to clean out Thumper & Ogden as their sawdust is sodden from all the rain we've had, it must have blown in as the hutch is on a stand.
    Hugs to all.

Babe woke up about 45 mins ago and started yelling....so fed it some milk and now its gone back to sleep. Peace at last. I don't really mind because she doesn't wake during the night anymore. Problem is now she won't want any breakfast. Oh well.

Still freezing...still raining. And I need to go out today too. Have to do a bit of shopping and put a cheque in the bank.

OH was very ratty last night. He was feeding Lily...she was refusing (by screaming) and he responded by screaming at me that she doesn't want that carp. Well...that set me off cos I'd spent ages cooking the chicken, brocolli and potatoes. We did make friends again later, but for a while there I could have lopped his head off. Problem was she'd had a bottle about 2 hours before so its possible she simply wasn't hungry. Sigh.

I need to check if there is anything remaining that needs washing today. Also I'm going to check out beef joints whilst I'm out. I don't know how many meals one would do...but I want to give it a try. No idea if it will meet my target of £1.50 per meal, but the only way to find out is to give it a good try.

Warm and cozy hugs to those that need them.

    Morning everyone

Well, I thought I was the only one in the cold and rain, so thanks to rchddap for cheering me up :D

Wet and miserable Bank Holiday here, I can't believe that just a few weeks ago, we were basking in 70 degrees :(

Work today, so chicken casserole in slow cooker for tea. I am going to take fruit for lunch and try to actually eat it - I buy fruit every week, and every week throw most of it away

Hope everyone has a good day x

    Good morning everyone!

N9eav - hope your daughter is feeling better. And congrats on *finally* getting your 4 stars!

    Mioliere - sounds like you'll have a great time - enjoy :j

Catowen - have a great day! Hope your children can amuse each other :T

Mrs Mix and Charlie's Mum - know what you mean about the cold. I've had log fires the last couple of nights

Scuzz, that's terrible news. ((((((hugs))))) to you all.

Hester - good luck at the bank - hope you don't make anyone cry ;)

Rchddap - love the new avatar :A

As I said, it's really cold here - so we had a roaring log fire last evening. DS and I played Scrabble last night (DD and DH don't much like board games, so this is a great chance for us). He beat me   so I'm intending to get my own back with Risk this evening.

I'm listening to a radio programme on Real Player about film extras. Keep wondering if the female interviewee is MimiF  She's just been described as slim and blonde, so must be her :rotfl: :rotfl:

Still raining here, so no gardening again. May get some time in the polytunnel, but the forecast is good for tomorrow. DS has some homework, and I'm trying to do a big house clean so we may stay in, then snuggle up with a film later.

Have a great day, Penny. x

    Good morning everyone!

Well, it looks a bit brighter after the awful weekend weather. Yesterday we went to a garden party in Norfolk. Well, I say "garden party", that was the original intention, but fortunately for all concerned it was moved to the village hall instead, so we had a lovely time! The hardier ones amongst us did manage to go for a country walk - all togged up in our waterproofs & walking boots etc. But it was nice to get back to the hall for a hot drink & hang wet clothes on the radiators afterwards.
Anyway, it was good to see some people we hadn't seen for a while, and great fun!

Today DS has got "school"work to do in the morning, then there is a home ed meeting this afternoon in a nearby village so he will see his friends.

This evening our elder son & his fiance should be here - they usually come to dinner on Tuesdays, then after that we go to prayer meeting. Younger DS usually goes to my mum's for dinner. Not to avoid his brother! But he has always gone there on a Tuesday, & saw no reason to change when big bro decided to turn up then!

    Have a good day all!

Good morning to those above and those to follow.

You can tell the bank holiday is over because the weather is lovely here today. Unfortunatly I am at work again so cannot really enjoy the sun.

I know being in debt is hard but I have joined the grocery challenge for the first time this month and what with the meal planning and budgeting i am really looking ahead and am excited about the challenge ahead and there i was thinking i would feel down and not up to it. Seems a bit strange and no doubt dark days ahead but i shall make hay while the sun shines so to speak.

Hope you all have a wonderfull day
