We all have the right to say what we want, dress as we please and go where we want to go. But not all places/modes of transport/times of day/groups of people are as safe to move amongst as others. it pays to be aware of the dangers and act accordingly. that's common sense, surely?

That can't be much comfort to the victims, if the deed is already done.

What dangers has your 17 year old (always accompanied) as has all her friends encountered exactly?

No not all modes of transport are safe, driving ones own car brings the biggest danger of all
Is your daughter and 'all' her 17 year old friends incapable of driving lessons then?

It might surprise you to learn that most people at risk on public transport are those who work on them

Travelling by public transport is one of the safest modes of transport

What age is your daughter going to be able to travel alone? How is she going to be able to function at uni or at work in a few months time in this 'dangerous world' ??

Seriously the more I read this particular forum the more I feel I am living n a paradox universe to some on here

Every country in the world has people who are under pressure with some who drink heavily. That absolutely doesn't excuse racist outbursts at children, or anyone else, come to that.

You are defending the morons dktreesea, by making excuses for them.

What about goths, what about punks, what about bikers, what about hippies? What about - oh I don't know, any person in this country or any other who doesn't apparently conform to what a British moron drunk thinks is the "right" way to look?

In my experience Bikers get left alone, (except in years long ago if you walked into a pub full of Mods).

What is so wrong with expecting people to be aware of the kind of society they live in, and to manage their lives appropriately if they don't want to be confronted with that kind of behaviour?
Lots, why should people who are not breaking any laws hide to pander to bigots like you and the drunk on the bus.

You can't stop bigots, drunk or otherwise. They exist. All you can do, if you don't want the hassle or heartache of dealing with them is to try to limit the possibility of being targetted. .

Or you can as a society as a whole confront them, make it socialy unacepatable - like happened with drunk drivers, they still exist but there are far less than even 30 years ago. Or bury our heads in the sand like you and let them know we tolerate their behaviour.

And not all people would expect minors to have to take the risk of going on public transport alone to do anything.
    17 isn't really a minor.

Why would anyone listen to the views of someone who can't even spell "muslim"

What's that got to do with anything? So people who can't spell should have their opinions ignored?

Or does it only apply to people with opposing views to your own?;)

Typical of the hypocritical leftards on here, anyone they don't agree with is a bigot/racist/islamophobe/bad speller who should be ignored, blah blah

Only Poet123 seems to have realised that the OP isn't a 15 yr old child and the rest of you soap-box ranters have swallowed the bait hook line and sinker :rotfl:

Oh well, as long as you're all enjoying yourselves....

It doesn't mean she;) is wrong either. Did you ever hear a 15 year old say "racist spiel"? I have had four and work with them, all day, every day, trust me, if the OP is 15 so am I.:rotfl:

Poet suspected that, so did I (#141, #154). But that is largely irrelevant to the discussion.

So what? 15 year olds come in one size fits all now. Also what relevance does it have to the convo? Sorry for the gender thing, my mistake.

No, of course they are not "one size fits all" but the word spiel is not in common usage today amongst teenagers, and that, coupled with the grammar, sentence construction and a gut feel, made me feel the OP was not quite what they purported to be. I could, of course, be wrong, but I really don't think I am.;)

The relevance to the thread is that if the OP is not 15 the incident cannot have happened as described. Now, whilst this does not negate the topic and detail as a subject for debate, it does make you wonder about the motives of someone posting this pretending to be something they are not.
