Just wondering if anyone in this thread who signed up to the deal has actually had their paperwork?
5 days into my cover period I've had nothing - despite a reminder call to request duplicates be sent of "missing in post" originals.
I may just be unlucky, but it would be nice to be re-assured that others have actually got documentation.0 -
Nope - nothing yet. Been 2 weeks. Just about to ring (ps - money taken out!)Being bored is so boring Im bored of it... :rotfl:0

Just called and they said it was sent out 2 days after I took out the policy. They are sending it again. I made sure I said I dont want duplicates! :PBeing bored is so boring Im bored of it... :rotfl:0

Still no policy documents, and I have just noticed that my credit card account as been credited with the amount they originally took out as payment. Sunday today, so won't we able to phone them until Monday, but suspect they intend to re-neg. Anybody any idea on the legal position? When I phoned them I neither quoted the code or was asked if I had insurance with them.
My somewhat hazy knowledge of the law in this area is they made me any offer which I accepted - they then took payment out. I don't think it's quite possible to simply cancel the deal by refunding the money, but I'd be interested if anyone can offer some concrete advice before I speak to them.0 -

Hi Nemo 183
I am no legal advisor.I was aware that this promotion was ending on 30/04.I trust you purchased by that date? It's interesting you didn't quote the code or
remind them that you didn't not have the insurance.Maybe the call centre staff entered the code from memory assuming you had the insurance with them. Are you sure you have actually been charged a lower amount as some fo the quotes were coming in at £23 ish?Maybe you mentioned "special offer"?
What does make it interesting in your case is that you mention you did not say anything to them.So they can't accuse you of lying on the tape.
I would be more concerned if I had lied on the tape to obtain this cheap breakdown deal especially as most of us know you need the car insurance to get the code.We all know the insurance sector advise us in their terms and conditions to be honest with our answers.Dishonesty won't be accepted. The
fact that Norwich Union has done some insurance breakdown policies to people who have not got the insurance with them,is surprising.I'm sure if I was a share holder I would want some answers.(honest ones of course).Maybe there has been a meeting to cancel some policies.I guess we just need to watch this space.0 -
Got my documents this morning at last! All original and with the free atlas/disc holder. No mention of needing insurance with them anywhere!Being bored is so boring Im bored of it... :rotfl:0

Im going to call them again tomorrow. We had to phone twice before the paperwork arrived, but we didnt get the 'welcome pack' with the atlas in0 -
Still no actual paperwork, despite assurances it has been sent out three times. On the plus side, have been issued with a policy number by phone.
Payment was taken from my card, then credited back. After further telephone conversation, payment taken again, but still no sign of actual documents.
Staff on the help line always helpful, but now 13 days into cover without docs.
This is not exactly a great confidence booster in dealing with NU over any other business at all. Hard to believe 3 sets of docs have gone AWOL in the post.
Anyway, since I now have a policy number, will carry on thinking they will come through eventually - despite each time I call they issue a different number.
As for expecting an atlas and tax disk holder..............will probably get none, or several hundred of each.0 -
I regret this thread seems to be becoming a solo moan about NU, BUT, I applied for this insurance on April 24, to start on May 1st. Never mentioned codes, being insured with them, etc, but did say I understood they were doing a special deal. I got 2 cars and a motor bike covered for £55.80 - a great deal.
They have taken my money, refunded it, and taken it again. They claim to have sent me three sets of documentation - none of which has arrived. The policy, under standard terms, which I took out for my son, arrived within 24 hours.
I'm only making this post in case others are having the same problems. I am 99.9% convinced they will eventually honour the policy - I now have a final (i.e. the 3rd) policy number - but no docs.
All the NU staff are helpful - but exactly what is one supposed to think when 3 sets of docs they say they have sent have not arrived?
Whatever eventually turns up, as a joe average punter, I now have zero confidence in NU. I will never consider any product from them, other than I am determined to persue this recovery policy to the bitter end.
I remain astonished at their performance - and the lies they seem to tell. I don't accept that the Royal Mail can possibly have failed to deliver, from the same company, three sets of docs. The only conclusion I can draw is that they are liars, or have systems so hopeless that just don't deliver.
Well, since my cars and bike never seem to breakdown, in the great scheme of things, none of this is more than a mild inconvience. I'd hate to be a policy holder with them of contracts of more crucial importance.
If my docs don't arrive next week, I'm sorry to say I'm sad enough to really get cross, and I'll be on to a few contacts I am fortunate enough to have with the press.
Anyway, sorry to go on, but anyone who relies upon this company for important stuff - maybe you should consider other options.0 -

Unfortunately not all telephone staff are clued up.I would try to speak to a team leader immediately.Get the persons name and location. Then email the dept. for complaints. The fact that you have not received the documents(andI
hope they are sending it to the correct address-please check)is a little worrying. This is because you have not had the opportunity to cancel the policy if you were not happy with it.I would hope that they have some records that you have tried to inform them that you still have not got the documents.(of course some if not all calls are recorded-this also covers you if the call staff mess up.)You will get the documents and I sure you will let it goas you are happy with their offer.Good luck. :beer:0
