I still haven't had my paperwork. I took the policy out on the 3rd and they said 4/5 days!!
I phoned on Tuesday (14th) and they said (didn't apologise!) it was posted on the 3rd and they will send another one out... I still haven't had it so I'll be phoning and shouting tonight...

This has just got better for me.
I've just upgraded to european cover from now to 01 October renewal for free.
Thank you NU.

Not sure if I got the deal through quoting the code or the fact that I do have a motor policy with them! It's very strange - when I phone about car insurance I get a UK call centre, but when I phone about breakdown cover I always get an Indian call centre. It does make understanding each other very difficult.
Anyway she went to great lengths to tell me that the normal price was £60 and that I would get it at a very special price as an insurance policy holder of £30.21. She did ask to verify details for security so she was certainly checking that I had a policy. She said I had to take this offer today but when I said that I wasn't wanting it until the 28th as my current breakdown policy ( cost me £60 with NU last year) didn't expire until then, she said that she would start it on the 28th and give me 2 extra months free!
I couldn't let that go so all going well she will have it start on the 28th.0 -
Just as an update to the above post. Today I received my renewal for my breakdown cover with NU, which was last taken out just before becoming an NU motor policy customer, and it quotes £54 to renew.
So getting a quote as a new customer and with the help of the code(I think) got me 14 months cover for £30 :j0 -
After paying £20 last year at the outset right at the start of the deal for everything except European cover I've just got my renewal invitation through.
I upgraded Europe cover for free in August for my hols and this is on the renewal quote.
Now £73 for next year.
The 1/2 price deal is not valid after year 1.
Time to read Martins updated article and get shopping around.
No thanks NU Rescue.

Just took out car insurance with NU.
Tried to also get breakdown cover as a new customer with the promotional code but it looks like they have stopped accepting this code.
Anyone know of a new code? The cust. service rep. hinted that a new code had been posted out to existing customers but they wern't prepared to be flexible eventhough I now have car insurance, home insurance and a load of other "covers" with them.0 -
Code CQM 1 still works. Called and got through to Indian call centre and code was accepted without question. Even got 2 months free ie 14 months cover.0

Just got my renewal through and of course it has doubled, anybody used the code again for renewal ?0

I assume many of you will have had renewal notices by now.How do they compare with the original quote? I noticed quoting for new business using the web resulted in a quote that was less than the renewal. As i now have two cars, i noticed that moving from vehicle based cover over to person based cover gets me the two cars covered for a lower premium than they quoted for single vehicle renewal of personal cover.Don’t be a can’t, be a can.0

I've had my renewal through and though I still have my car insurance with them, it's double price at £60

I gave them a call this morning and was informed that I had "a really good price" last year and there's no similar scheme running this year
I may have to abandon them if they can't be competitive and reward me for getting car ins. from them too
