Hi, we got a great half price quote, but when we rang to query something on the written quote that they had sent us ,they told that the quote was now not valid because we do not have car insurance with them!Surely this cannot be right when they have sent it all out in print with a payment slip.I stress that we haven't paid up to this point. We told the man when we first rang up that we had been given the code by friends and there was no problem.Has anyone else had this problem?Any advice from anyone would be helpful.Thanks.

I took out the breakdown cover at the beginning of March and was never asked about whether I had Norwich Union Insurance or even where I got the discount code from. I don't have their insurance and am now starting to panic as to whether or not the cover is valid. I have paid and I do have the documentation but I am still feeling concerned.

I understand that the code should show up on their terminal as 'Introductory Discount' and should not be influenced by any other insurance. Perhaps you could try again or request they reconsider on the grounds that they have already issued a valid quote.
    Good luck.

Hello, thanks for the advice. We did ring them back and had a heated discussion about that very point. We were rang back by a supervisor who said that they would listen to the audio tape of the first call and if we had said we were given the code by a friend they would honour it.I don't know if they ever did listen but we had a call two days later saying that we could proceed with the half price quote of £54.A lot of hassle but worth it for the savings that we made.

Took advantage of this thread to get 2 x cars insured for £55 - great. Then NU offered to include motorbike for free - even better!!

Then tried to get young son's new Ka on seperate policy - was quoted £72 because "he had not yet any no claims discount". Decided to accept quote for him, despite price, because of previous deal.

Paperwork for him arrived within a day - mine yet to arrive despite having been paid for before - and money debited from card.

I'll give them the benefit of another week for the papers to turn up, before thinking they are going to re-neg.

I'd stress, in order to get my £55 quote I didn't even have to quote code or special offer - just said I understood their breakdown insurance at the moment was a good deal.

If it turns out they are intending to go back on their word, apart from making certain I never take out any other policy with them at any price, it seems to me there's a binding contract - they've made an offer, I've accepted it, they've taken the money.

Anyway, I hope common sense will yet prevail and my papers turn up very soon.

I hope you have better luck than me. My documents failed to arrive, they then sat on emails i sent to chase them up. After informing them that i wished to invoke thier complaints procedure i was sent documents with DUPLICATE in heavy type over each one. Strange considering i never recieved the originals. No welcome pack or tax disc holder was sent. I hope if i ever have to call on the breakdown service that it is run on a more professional basis than the admin side. Far from impressed so far.
