I used this last week after picking up the code on this board before Martin ran his e-mail. This is a superb code and the guy at Norwich Union Direct (Ian I think) was telling me that it was the best code they have ever issued and he said I should tell all my friends.

Anyway, 1 Corsa (1998) and 1 Old Banger Nova (1992) full comprehensive cover ..Relay, Homestart etc wham bam thankyou Mam a Super Dooper Deal of £70. This price cannot be beaten for this type of cover. Let's hope they don't pull it and let's hope they taje the code on renewal!! They were also very helpful on the phone.

Excellent post- you will win post of the month!
    Val :)
  • I found this post very misleading as you don't discover you're supposed to have an NU Motor policy to use this code until you've spent time going through all the details with the operator, by which time they have all your personal information. If you're not careful and don't tell them, they'll add you to the mailing list.

the guy I spoke to didn't care either way and I when he asked me I just said that my husband sorts everything and I didn't know, plus he didn't say I had to have my car ins with NU anyway. £32.05 on my Y reg Punto for the whole shebang!!

    Absolutely wonderful, thank you

I just got a quote using this code and it was £64 for a 93 Toyota Celica for full cover (about half the price of the AA). She didn't mention that I had to have insurance with them, but I think I got off lightly as it sounded like the lady was training. Not bad at all :)
My mantra is simple: If I don't help myself first, I shouldn't expect it from others. If I don't like something, I will change it. If I can't change it, I will learn to deal with it.

I accept responsibility for my own actions and my own situation. A sense of entitlement is not healthy and will only lead to consistent disappointment.

I quoted the code first and she just said "yeah thats fine...". Didnt ask me for my details or if I had insurance. Only THEN did I proceed to give her my details when she agreed to using the code.

If she hadn't Id have said "thanks a lot" and rung again...

I work for Norwich Union Direct who offer a stand alone Breakdown policy called NU Rescue. Although the product is branded as NU's own, it is actually operated and supported by the RAC and is very very good value so long as your car is not very old. The deal is even better because just now there is a promotion running which sees any of the breakdown packages sold at HALF PRICE for the identical level of cover.

To take advantgae of this offer, simply call 0800 096 4704 between 8am and 10pm and quote the reference: CQM1. This is a superb offer and the full package of homestart, roadside and relay with onward travel cost me £28 for a 2000 Peugeot 206. JUts don't forget the reference number!!!

The best thing to do is first read the cheapest roadside recovery article then compare the price the code gives you with the cheapest there (which is very cheap).

I have checked this code out with NU and it is legit. It has asked me to inform people that it is only supposed to be for people who already have car insurance with it.

THANK YOU Just a few days ago I paid RAC £56 for Basic cover 1 car any driver.. NU Just quoted £45 Full Cover 2 Drivers ANY Car. (Calcelled RAC under 14 day cooling-off policy)

After paying, I asked NU what tel. number I should call if I break down, was given 0800 888 111, called to check and got NU Sales Call Center.. EVENTUALLY they advised one should call 08000 155 755.

    Thanks again,

    Graham
  • I am new to replying to threads but have been reading Martins Tips 4 ages ! just wanted to say a BIG thanks for the NU code for half price roadside recovery for my car it would have cost a LOT with AA but for a fraction (actually £27.07 ) I have the 3star service . Excellent! and many thanks to all who contributed and saved me loadsa money :j :j - suzieque
  • fantastic post, rang up today about my (t)rusty 1998 fiat bravo and spoke to a lovely foreign lady. went through all of the questions and was quoted £103 , gave the magic code and hey presto, 50% was deducted, i was then asked if i wanted to pay over 12 months! bargain. she asked who my insurance was with and i said i'm not to sure. obviously this was an ok reply to her. so the long and short of it, if i break down on my way to scotland (from wales) i can get a lift there and save on petrol! and as its for up tp 7 people i can pick up a few fares on the way!!
I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the Ramada/Days Inn BRG thread.
