    Hello all!

Apologies for not posting in ages but I am without internet. Have moved out of flat with ex-OH and found a new place, but still waiting to get online, so I'll be with you all properly soon enough :) Anyway, just logging in to assure you I am still around and I hope that everyone is well (I'm afraid I haven't even been on MSE since the last time I posted, so I've no idea whats going on - someone will have to update me)

    Have a good one

Aussielass - like banks, PO's are not open on Bank Holidays, sorry :(
Queenie-I wish I could be more like you!! Definately dont mind being called Queenie, just not worthy enough yet:A ...thanks for all the great advice for DD. ...... Not sure what to pack clothes wise for her. Will give her crisps, dried fruit, muesli bars etc. ...

Ah, never wish to be me, or even more like me (it's not always a bundle of roses ;) ) as for "worthy"? Methinks you do a grand job of what you do, under the circumstances you have to endure! Many have found your posts inspirational - take credit where it is due!

Ok, clotheswise - bear in mind I had a son (soooo not fashion aware or cared!). Soooo, again, break the trip into days/activities. I talked through with d12yo what would be 'appropriate' for each day trip and then added extra's so he had the empowerment of "choice". Personally, I think mix n match items are a God send and packed things which blended well together without any clashing. Now, trust me, if you pack 5 outfits or 50 outfits ... *all* will come back dirty and worn ;) On a MSE point of view, I packed 5 'bottoms' plus double the amount of 'tops' (in our case it was 5 days including travelling). This was more than enough for one pair of 'bottoms' per day + 2 tops (one for day, one for evening). Now, I do remind myself we are talking "boy's" in my scenario and they are not quite as pernickerty as girls. But even girls won't "soil" their bottoms enough to warrant 2 changes per day! (That sounds wrong, but you know what I mean!). Plus, bear in mind your DD is going to have to carry/drag the weight of her own suitcase from the time it leaves the coach until the time your OH picks her up again ;) It needs to be born in mind! Also, it's worth considering that the more clothes she takes, the more shoes she'll want to take to cater for the differing outfits!!!! By the same token, girls are very happy to swap and share things (boys are less inclined) so she may well adapt any idea's to whatever her mates swap/share.

I know it's hard; I know you want to do the very best you can for her. Ultimately, don't put yourself (or her) under pressure to be all and everything. You have to be comfortable and confident with your choices ... even if you may worry that your choices won't meet "everyone else's" standards. The whole point is for your dd to have a fun experience and not measure herself against her peer group. Oh and trust me (!!!!) there are some parents out there who will go out and buy the latest/greatest/must have's for their children for the trip ... but it doesn't make their children "better" or more loved or more appreciated or more 'understood' than anyone else's child - it merely evidences the parents insecurities! Also, it doesn't make their children the "most popular" either. Other children, who may not have the income to be so top-of-the-range may actually resent them!

Simply use some common sense (which you have!), buy within *your* budget, within *your* ideals/values. Your dd will have a super time with or without breaking the bank; she knows she's loved, she's secure in her world and that is worth far more than oodle's of pocket money or oodles of clothes!

You'll do the right thing, I know it! ;):D

Blair -good to see you posting again! Been thinking about you!! Well done on getting your place and wishing you speed in getting online on a more permanent basis soon :D

twink .... you sweet talker, you!!!! :D:D:D Ok, I'm still excited, still thinking of taking the plunge ... roll on Tuesday

    Evening everyone
I'm still waiting to be paid, my wages have just gone into the wrong account for the second time & now will not be in my account by 31st as promised & I'm £27 overdrawn as a cheque I paid in has bounced & I've been charged £60 bank charges. I sometimes wonder what I did in a previous life to have all this happen to me now!
Still apart from that we've had a good weekend, we had friends visiting us yesterday, they stayed overnight & went home around 10ish this morning. they have loads of money & showed us some of the lovely things they have bought recently & photos of the resort in Mexico where they are going to get married soon.
DS2 came over for lunch today, I cooked a huge roast chicken with all the trimmings, some chocolate brownies, a poor man's mousse & a fresh loaf. Just after he arrived DD1 arrived with DSIL, they'd been shopping locally & so tucked into the roast dinner too, polished off the the mousse & were persuaded to take the brownies & fresh bread with them. It was lovely to see them all & being a mum, I always like to feed them when they visit, even tho I know they are all able to fend for themselves.
    Hugs to everyone

    Hester.

Hope your husband gets better soon and diagnosed.

Hugs to everyone feeling a bit low.

Woke up this morning to find I had lost my voice so whispered happy silver anniversary to DH.

Have been sipping home made elderberry extract and did not feel up to going out for a meal so got DD to go shopping for veg and made a sunday lunch before crawling back up to bed for a couple of hours.

DH has decided we should look for a house with a garden and garage so has DDs tidying up and clearing clutter which is going in the loft.

I am keeping out of the way and having hot drinks.

The amount of clattering and banging about is scary! Going to let them get on with it and just try to get myself better.

Elona Happy Anniversary. I was going to wish you a happy day yesterday and meant to do it in my first post this morning. I forgot. :o Go out for a special meal when you feel a bit better.

taplady - you *can* sample the crumbs - a little of what you fancy does you good, even on a diet!! The more you say "no!" to certain foods, the more they will call to you - so go on, have a weeny nibble (just to make sure they are cooked, you understand! :naughty:  )
