Going to make some more soup later for tea and that's about it.

Well our holiday weekend started brilliantly, OH was taken to hospital afetr his bowls match with chest pains, I left well after midnight, at that stage they had given him morphine, but did not think it was his heart. He is to have xrays this morning and see the consultant.............its pouring with rain which just about sums up how I feel.
I was reading till 3am, could not settle, then wole at 7.30 went to the loo and made a cup of tea, got back into bed. Have just surfaced...........sorted out PJ's etc...am going to have to go on the bus, and its Sunday service so 40 minutes wait.......if I take the car it will cost me £5 to park in the hospital car park..........DD came and took me last night and then tipped out of bed to collect me, which was a godsend, the A & E was full of drunks as per usual for a Saturday night.
I went out yesterday and forgot I had put a pan of beans on the stove, the place was stinking when I got back and the pan ruined, I think the only thing that prevented the smoke alarm going off was the kitchen and living room windows were both open!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So that a pan down the sink, I threw it down the rubbish chute.
Right better go need another drink..........and to get myself organised........Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.0 -
Good morning all,
:T :T !!CONGRATULATIONS Cazziebo!!T :T
Which course were you doing? It's such an achievement in the midst of teeenagers, work and your house challenges as well.
Aussielass, nice to read you were/are in Dundee - where my mother's family were from. Scotland is beautiful, the only downside is the areas which come with midge hell in the summer, they are small but deadly! Stick to the east coast and you'll be fine!!
Mioliere, I hope you have a great time in France when you go. For those of us confined to barracks this year, it's hugely enjoyable to read of everyone's comings and goings.
Kyle, I hope your mouth is responding to the salt water rinses, if not, don't delay in getting an emergency appt with dental services.
Penny-Pincher, I hope you're feeling ok just now.
I just had to tell my DSIL2 in Oz that I won't manage over in Dec for her 60th birthday, but when I'm recovered (hopefully by end of 2009) and hopefully back up to full earning capacity, I'll maybe be able to start saving for a visit. In the meantime I've asked her to put Skype on their computer, so we can talk a bit more frequently.
Today I've got the WM on, will make some Irish soda bread and wash kitchen and bathroom floors. Also been asked to write a character reference for friends who are moving into a rented house while they wait to see what the property market does. There's nothing suitable on the market at the mo.
because I work part-time now, I'm not entitled to tomorrow's bank holiday, so I'm going to work from home in the morning, as I have a home visit in the local area in the early afternoon and it will save me a 40-mile round trip to the hospital where my office is. Will resist the temptation to log in and see how you're all doing!!
Enjoy your day, wherever you are.
Hugs

Hi - wet and miserable here; well, outside it is! Inside, DH has coloured my hair for me and I've just had a shower so that's me 'young' and blonde again! Have plucked those two caterpillars that had set up home above my eyes - I can see again!! AUSSIE LASS - was it the free Olay mask? I have one which I'll put on tonight - might wait until you've tested it first!!
CAZZIEBO - many congratulations on your graduation; I'm just so sorry your LOs spoiled it for you. My DS2 was like that when he was a teenager (he is human now so it doesn't last forever!) but they must have been aware that it was such a special day for you and something for them to be really proud of. We're proud of you! At least they realised - a little too late - that it was hurtful.
DANNAHAZ AND MRS MIX -hope you both have lovely days out despite the rain!
JET77 - don't remind me of those days! I hated it when they were like that especially if they were housebound because of the weather. You just know it'll end in tears and then YOU end up taking the fall-out even though you warned them!
EMMY - glad your dental situation is improving. At least YOU are doing the salt-wash treatment, unlike our KYLE!! KYLE - are you listening? How is the gum?
QUEENIE - that is a fascinating link; I made myself walk away from it because the colour needed showering off my hair, unless I wanted to look like Jimmy Saville - not a good look for the mother of the groom! I will take a longer look later; I have a lovely book called Seven Hundred Years of English Cooking and that is fascinating and very useful if you like cooked starlings etc!
PENPIN - I can't believe you have to put up with a couple who have the cheek to argue in your house in front of you. They can't have much self respect, can they? I'm not surprised your OH told them where to go!
Well, I have just sold another book - Sunday seems to be my best day! Sold two last Sunday and one - so far - today. Tonight I will set my 'vacation settings' on Amazon so that my list is suspended until I come back from holiday.
Have finished typing my mum's letter to Nat West so that will be posted later. Still haven't gone out to get DH a new white shirt but will do that before lunch.
DGS and DGD will probably be round later this afternoon but too wet for our usual game of footie so will occupy them indoors. I picked up a card-shuffler at the charity shop, for .75p, so that will keep them amused if I dig out loads of playing cards. I also picked up a set of Soccer Marbles which look really good - not seen them anywhere before and only paid £1 for them including a really neat carrying case. DGS will LOVE them!
Well, it's too wet outside for DH to play with his 'new' 4x4 but he is looking through the handbook and keeps going outside to check on things that he finds in the book. He's dead chuffed because he has found a special pull-out tray that sits under the passenger seat for extra storage. I must admit, it's a good idea and you'd never know it was there. Be somewhere to store my books and newspapers etc. It's a pity we're not taking it to France, but DH wants it serviced first before he does such a long journey in it, so we're taking my car which is being serviced on Tuesday - the day we go, so I hope it's ready in time! DH always plans things like that - he loves to 'live on the edge'! Drives me potty but I'm used to it. DS1 says he fully expects us to arrive six hours after his wedding! The only time my DH was ever early for anything was the day we got married! Must have been keen or that's what I tell him and everybody else!
Anyway, going to go now and put the TD on, unfortunately, and hang the rest of the washing in the spare room to dry. Oh, I've just remembered something else to put on my to-do list - I need to make a wedding card and I want to do it before we go on Tuesday! Going now to put that on the list - VERY IMPORTANT!!
Catch you all later!

Oh, CSARINA - poor you and DH. I hope he's OK. I'm glad your DD was able to collect you - A & E is not the best place to be on a Saturday night.
The pan of beans must have just about been the last straw. I hope today goes a bit better for you.

That's it
DH had taken kids out. I'm supposed to be preparing my presentation for a promotion interview on wednesday. I've checked on here twice, and hoovered the living room
Soo
Queenie - I'm taking some of your advice.
15 mins reading interview book I got last week
5 mins plucking eyebrows. (cant go to interview looking like Dennis Healy)
15 mins doing skeleton presentation
5 mins cup of tea and toast
15 mins filling out presentation
5 mins emptying WM and reloading and putting washing on line
15 mins more presentation
5 mins relax with cuppa
15 mins pretending to do presentation
whats that - just over an hour and a half.
lets see how it goes.
Cazziebo - think I need your staying power. Graduating with teenagers!!! well done."You can't get a cup of tea big enough or a book long enough to suit me." - C.S. Lewis0 -
Queenie re spending money mine went to Switzerland with the scouts i think we only sent £100 for 10 days it is quite expensive there and not too much to buy and if they are busy all day they wont have time to spend except on sweets and rubbishi take it all their food and accommodation is paid for?
hope she has a good time
Penny-Pincher!...not Queenie:D ...how old were your lot when they went? DD is 12. All her meals are included and they are staying in a hotel. What are the prices like out there?
Thanks

Csarina hope your DH is ok.
Jet77 hope Benson is feeling better soon.
PenPin my parents were like that, I remember visits lasting 5 minutes tops before they started bickering, good luck.
Dannahaz & MrsMix hope you both have a lovely day
Mioliere hope everything goes well and you have a great time
Cazziebo congratulations
Emmy & Kyle hope the teeth are better soon.
Peem I do a list like that, I write all my jobs for the day down and an approx time next to them, works for me as I know not to start a 30 min job when I only have 5 etc
Queenie, thanks, but now I have little or no chance of getting anything done today :rotfl:
Incase anyone missed it on yesterdays thread, if you buy Clover http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/shropshire/6694903.stm
Got a list a mile long to get done, the what will no doubt turn into being neighbours from hell are at the house next door today clearing up, I have no idea why as their current home is a stinking tip and this will no doubt be the same within a few weeks. Ok rant over, for now!
Anyway, I'm going to see if I can work out how to use my new food processor today, now I have a space (well ish) for it.
Gone for ready made home made food for today and tomorrow as I need to free up some freezer space so a slight switch of days on the meal plan, depending which defrosts first is what's for dinner today, other will be for tomorrow, seems like a good planOne day I might be more organised...........
