Post Offices in Scotland are open tomorrow. Bank holiday generally for civil servants and banks workers up here. Most of us plebs are working!

Hi,
I finally managed to get on the computer as my 2 DDs have been on it for most of the day. We did all manage to go out to the local retail park as DH wanted to get something from the girls for my birthday tomorrow. It gave me the opportunity to have a look around the shops on my own whilst he looked for the things I'd heavily hinted at! :rotfl:
I made a couple of pizzas for our tea. I used the bm to make the dough and they were lovely. I am so impressed with the quality of the dough even if it takes 2 hours to make. My MIL made me a lovely (early) banana birthday cake with cream cheese icing and it was the best I've had.
We're all off together next week so we've got a few jobs to do around the house including laying a wooden floor in the hall and cleaning the carpets. If the weather improves then we'll go out on the bikes with the girls and have a couple of days out.
That's all from me.

didn't realise others were open, but I suppose it's a different country :rotfl: north of the border and all that. Sorry Aussie for being wrong
Well, I've just shocked myself, I emptied the freezer and listed it as I put it all back instead of cheating and doing it from the front. God there is so much in there. May end up needing some inspiration on how to make all this interesting however. One day I might be more organised...........

Ah, never wish to be me, or even more like me (it's not always a bundle of roses
) as for "worthy"?
Methinks you do a grand job of what you do, under the circumstances you have to endure! Many have found your posts inspirational - take credit where it is due!
Ok, clotheswise - bear in mind I had a son (soooo not fashion aware or cared!). Soooo, again, break the trip into days/activities. I talked through with d12yo what would be 'appropriate' for each day trip and then added extra's so he had the empowerment of "choice". Personally, I think mix n match items are a God send and packed things which blended well together without any clashing. Now, trust me, if you pack 5 outfits or 50 outfits ... *all* will come back dirty and wornOn a MSE point of view, I packed 5 'bottoms' plus double the amount of 'tops' (in our case it was 5 days including travelling). This was more than enough for one pair of 'bottoms' per day + 2 tops (one for day, one for evening). Now, I do remind myself we are talking "boy's" in my scenario and they are not quite as pernickerty as girls. But even girls won't "soil" their bottoms enough to warrant 2 changes per day! (That sounds wrong, but you know what I mean!). Plus, bear in mind your DD is going to have to carry/drag the weight of her own suitcase from the time it leaves the coach until the time your OH picks her up again
It needs to be born in mind! Also, it's worth considering that the more clothes she takes, the more shoes she'll want to take to cater for the differing outfits!!!! By the same token, girls are very happy to swap and share things (boys are less inclined) so she may well adapt any idea's to whatever her mates swap/share.
I know it's hard; I know you want to do the very best you can for her. Ultimately, don't put yourself (or her) under pressure to be all and everything. You have to be comfortable and confident with your choices ... even if you may worry that your choices won't meet "everyone else's" standards. The whole point is for your dd to have a fun experience and not measure herself against her peer group. Oh and trust me (!!!!) there are some parents out there who will go out and buy the latest/greatest/must have's for their children for the trip ... but it doesn't make their children "better" or more loved or more appreciated or more 'understood' than anyone else's child - it merely evidences the parents insecurities! Also, it doesn't make their children the "most popular" either. Other children, who may not have the income to be so top-of-the-range may actually resent them!
Simply use some common sense (which you have!), buy within *your* budget, within *your* ideals/values. Your dd will have a super time with or without breaking the bank; she knows she's loved, she's secure in her world and that is worth far more than oodle's of pocket money or oodles of clothes!
You'll do the right thing, I know it!
Awww thanks Queenie, that choked me up abit actually:o I apreciate all your kind words...they mean alot:D ...all your practical advice is superb and will copy and paste it all to a word document, so that I dont forget it:rolleyes:
Thanks again so much.

In my experience with the likes of school trips and how much or little people take etc, it's forgotten about when they get back anyway, kids will be kids, one in our school his Nana would provide him with way too much spending money etc other kids pressumed he'd pinched it, just shows doesn't it. Sure she'll have a fab time regardless.
People wonder why I don't go out drinking, DP just took a poor nurse home who's had to deal with an awful situation whilst on a night out in town where a fight started and ended up having to revive a young lad (about 18/19) I said I was bored earlier, but pleased not in the middle of all that. One day I might be more organised...........
