Morning everyone.
Wet and horrible here too, so no building walls today, which in a way im really pleased about as yesterday because of dh bad back i lernt to mix `gobo`, my arms this morning are killing me!!
Plans for today ds1 is off to watch Pirates of the Caribbean , its a 12a and he isnt 12 for a 3 months yet, so im abit worried he wont get in, its the first time hes done this, but he does look alot older than 12 and is going with 3 others two who are 15, but back up plan is if they cant get into watch poc they will go watch mr bean instead.
Its so hard as only 2 films at our cinema are pg over half term and hes not bothered about any of those 2.
Need to meal plan today and do some ironing, but hoping dh does nothing need to rest up for a full day, but trying to get him to sit still is impossible.

This could have been me typing this, know where your coming from with that!!!LOL.

Meant to have shared this in my original post; as some of you know, d12yo is doing project on '50's US food. Even endured an old episode of "Happy Days" in the name of 'research' yesterday afternoon. Well, the topic interestsme too, so I've also being doing some research
Came across a most fascinating website Food Timeline which is an absolute goldmine of information. Among it's nuggets are some of the history behind the foods, recipes and even links to some digitalised old recipe books.
Anyone with an interest in food, recipes, old style cooking will find *something* of interest within this website.
Warning: Do make sure you've been to the loo and have a drink and snack beside you before you begin having a nosey ... there is just soooooo much information and fascinating stuff it's easy to get sidetracked ..... you could be a while:beer:

Oh dear
I'm sitting here feeling guilty.
I've sent DH off to have a word with his mum and dad.
MIL looks after the kids while I work wed/thurs/fri - well DD is at school and Ds goes to nursery thurs/fri morning. But effectively she's their childminder for those days. DS got a scooter last week for his birthday, he's been wanting one for ages, but even though he's only 5 he was v. patient and waited for his birthday without complaint. Then I find out that because DS (who's 2) wanted to play on the scooter MIL went and bought her one of her own! !!! I mean, how are they going to learn
1 the value of things,
2 that DD doesn't get special treatment (DS will come to resent her, I know, I resented my Sis for years)
3 that DD doesn't get everything she wants just cos she has a strop,
and 4 how to get on with one another and share.
I am soo angry - but as I say also guilty. I realise grandparents want to spoil kids, but if you take on responsibility as child minder, you have to behave slightly differently. Don't get me wrong I am grateful to her, BUT she does this cos she wants to. We could pay for a child minder.
Aaargh.. I wanna be a SAHM!!
PS - thanks for letting me vent some steam."You can't get a cup of tea big enough or a book long enough to suit me." - C.S. Lewis0 -
Morning Guys!
That lavender oil is definately helping me:D ....didnt roll out of bed till 8.30am:o ....but was up twice quickly through the night. Although everything hurts with the weather being wet, I feel in such good spirit;)
Had a great time round friends yesterday and ended up having a BBQ as we missed the rain completely. Got home about 10.30, so wasnt too late.
Have got a big leg of lamb out for dinner later as we have friends coming over. They argue all the time (its so embarrasing), so will do a big roast dinner then maybe put a film on...sounds bad but I just dont have the energy to listen to them bickering. Its always about money..he works hard and she spends all of it and that she is lazy and does nothing:rolleyes:...a few months ago it got so bad that OH told them to shut up or go home:eek:   They all eat junk and take-aways and their 4yr will only eat (apparently) ready meals or chips. Last time they came she polished off sweet sticky roasted veg and some HM Pie
...she's a lovely little girl but always ill and tired...with that kind of diet I think she would be:cool: The mum is also 6 months preggers. I love them dearly but they are hard work:D Have just helped them win back 2.5k of charges, so will be helping them with a money diet plan later.
DD has loads of revision this week as she has 2 weeks of exams when she goes back. Only 10 weeks till she goes away with the school and they still havent let us know what she will need. They are going to Switzerland for a week, so weather should be warm. What kind of stuff should I be putting to one side for her as I dont want her taking too much as I doubt there will be room. Any pointers from parents whos kids have gone awayHow much money can they take as she wants to take about £200?
Found out yesterday that the production she is doing is going to be at The Orchard Theatre at Dartford in July, so thats all exciting. Frizzhead-Guess what they are doing.....yeap you've guessed it-High School Musical....nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnooooooooooooooooooooooooo:D God help us!
I have my last essay of this particular course to complete in the next 2 weeks and I cant wait till this has finished. My next course starts in October and I have a residential week away, which will be fun as they have to accomade me in the wheels and OH is supposed to be coming with me.
Anyway, Im babbling on now, hope everyone is ok. Hugs to all.

Good Morning All
Weather is horrible and wet. Luckily we are going to the pictures today but I guess a lot of other people will be having the same idea.
Cant wait as we are having a chinese buffet lunch as well, will defintately get my money's worth today, am already starving. Also bought the pick and mix from woolworths yesterday as it's so much cheaper.
Painter is here being industrious but the rest of us are lazying about. WIll drop off puppy round my sisters before we go so he doesnt get in the way.
Anyway going go and mooch around. Have a great day.
PP - have no idea about school trips yet as DD doesnt go on one till year 9 I think. She did go on one at junior school but they were on an activity holiday as were only allowed £2 per day spending money.
Queenie - love american food, must remind myself nearer the time to pick up some cookery books when Im out there. I know where there is a lovely kitchen shop and last time I picked some spices.0 -
Good morning
Its tipping it down here, so a long lazy day (again) today, boys want to bake more cakes so just a trip out to get some eggs, im not a fan of my local shop (londis) as its so expensive but cheaper than me getting on a bus into town (and sunday service is every 2 hours), we are going to have so many cakes here by tonight but it keeps them busy.
going to sort lunch soon, will start cooking when the younger 2 have there nap
have hallway carpets to wash tonight, used the upholstry part of the cleaner on my sofas last night and was so surprised how well its come up, almost like having a new sofa again, its so well made that i wont be needing a new one for a long time if i clean it every so oftern.

Queenie re spending money mine went to Switzerland with the scouts i think we only sent £100 for 10 days it is quite expensive there and not too much to buy and if they are busy all day they wont have time to spend except on sweets and rubbishi take it all their food and accommodation is paid for?
hope she has a good time0 -
